Did I spell that right?
Anyways, I've got something to say. And take this from someone who loves mags just as much as the next guy.
They're done. Nothing (not even a pneumatic frame) will make them the mainstream muppet mower they used to be. The entire paintball community has moved on, and I think we're all a bit guilty of living in the past.
Mags are so different. Thats why I love them so much. I like being on teh field and being the only one with a mag.
Sure its kinda sad when people ask me how I got an angel frame on that shocker, but its sort of nice.
I dont know about you, but I didnt choose mags because they were fast or light, or supposedly dont chop. I chose them because I like them. I really can't explain it.
All you guys who say "I've been a mag owner for 15 years, and will never let my mag go"- Power to you. But just realise, that there are other 'better' options out there.
Someone asked me what my favorite kind of marker was the other day when I was reffing... I told him that my favorite is the mag, but it is not at all the best marker out there. I like it because I like it. I like the way it works, the way it feels, how it shoots, how I take care of it, the community surrounding it.. I just like everything about it.
I was offered a straight up trade for my Alpha Mag for some kid's IR3 in a PM once (I think it was on paintballforum.com). I told him no way.
Liking Old School stuff is great, but dont get blinded by the awesome light that is the mag.
I really dont like, and I'll go as far as saying I dispise people who are all for one thing, and ignore the other options. This is true in paintball '(woodsball vs speedball), and this is true in politics (dems vs repubs), and is pretty much true in all aspects of life.
Be well rounded.
AGD is never coming back. Take advantage of the excellent deals they are giving us on regs and pro classics. DO take advantage of the great dealers we have and DO impress the field with the mechanical marker that you can walk to 15bps, get bounce on, bounce the bolt off a dollar bill, and weigh it in a 2 pounds.
What I'm saying is twofold. Dont worry, and dont be too biased.
Good game fellas... see you on the field.
