If you are switching to a Tippmann because you want to use co2 I would just recomend that you do something so that you can use co2 with your mag. If you get a 98 with rt you are going to have the same problems unless you spend the money on a Palmer reg or an expansion chamber. The 98 with rt will shoot so fast that it will suck the liquid co2 into the gun and use up the co2 very fast and you will get shoot down.
I had an A5 with a remote and tried co2. It still sucked the liquid in. Just stay away from co2 if you can. If you cant I would go along with the others and suggest you set up your mag to better use co2.
Also if you get a 98 with rt you are going to need a fast egg or halo.

You say you want to use CO2 due to not being able to get HPA fills. Do you have a dive shop nearby? If you do, you can pick up a used SCUBA tank for around $100, and a fill station off Ebay or somewhere else for about $20. About the same price as a stock m98, and still cheaper than getting an A5, or the RT frame with the m98. Just something to consider.

Go Pro/Carbine --- I'm a big fan of the old girl simply because you just can't beat it for reliability and its consistancy. I added an APP double trigger and a JCS stock. Its one of my most accurate markers.

Of course to keep the cost down I'd just leave it stock.

          I wish I'd never sold my Pro-Lite...
I bought it brand-spanking-new in '93 and used the hell out of it! I still managed to get over half of what I payed for it when I sold it in '00.

I agree with the idea of getting a Prolite. Then again, Im kinda partial.

My Prolite was my second gun, and when Im at school, I have no way to fill HPA to shoot my mag, so I just break out the old Prolite, dump some oil in, and good to go. My favorite thing about it, though, is that it LOVES CO2. Hell, the more liquid it gets, the happier it gets. You will never have problems with CO2 with a good Prolite.

Plus, I've had my Tippy since '99 and the only thing I've ever had to replace is the little foam ball latch that Tippmann uses for a detent. And that was only because I shoved it too far in and the bolt sheared it.

But anyways, combine a Prolite with a good all-around barrel, like the J&J Ceramic or maybe the Lapco Bigshot, and you've got a dang decent gun.

I own a carbine thats over 10 years old, and had the mag for about the same amount of time. I used CO2 on both with no problems until I went HPA last year. I prefer the carbines over the newer 98 and A5 but upgrades are becoming more and more rare for the carbines along with many of the spare parts, not that you really need them. You can't go electronic or RT with a carbine unless you make your own or find someone that does.

Also if you get liquid into the valve of a tippmann you don't get shootdown, you get a much hotter shot unlike a mag. Used carbines and 98s are fairly cheap either is a decent way to go. You could also convert the mag to use CO2 like others have suggested, I used a palmers stabilizer with a expansion which worked fine.

I also own a Tippmann Prolite that has only failed me once, a spring broke in the trigger, but 5 minutes later, it was working just like new. Very reliable, durable, and good looking markers. P.S. i made a silencer for it, however the bolt is making most of the noise, but it still looks cool.

buy an A5, with the cyclone feed you wont chop. it can run off CO2, AND tippy's will shoot way faster then mags. im a tippy person, on the tippy forums all day, and i love them. the internals will shoot faster then you think...

Blowbacks have very fast cycleing rates, but once your over 30 CPS it just dosent matter

                                anything with the new act.

I would suggest buying a new tippmann with there new anti chop bolt.
Since they are all mapped, buying them form anywhere on the internet will be the same price.
(Gosh i remember when you coud actually get a good deal on internet that wasn't used or a closeout item)

tippmann 98 with act from action village

98 with act and a e-grip plus a was board standard

                                that's my suggestion
