AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
who was/is the greates influence on the paintball?
Dave as a player was so much fun to be around. Dave as a corporate man, not so personable.
I have met and talked to Tom and Glenn on many occasions and find them both to be interesting people, but for different reasons.
Props should also be given to Jessica Sparks.
I guess as someone else did, you need to look at it from different angles.
Technology Influences: Tom and Glenn
Media Influences: Jessica Sparks
Marketing Influences: Dave Youngblood and Bud Orr
Patent Influences: Gardner brothers.
Player Influences: Fred Shultz
I would tend to agree with Muzikman. Glenn Palmer and Tom Kaye. I have met both in person a number of times on and off the field. These two are great influences on the sport.
On a personal level, I would say the influences of my local dealer. I have used the same person for 9 years now. He was the person who got me into mags after shooting his. He's a good woodsballer as well as becoming a good speedballer.

Alan
Paintball cannot be that big. No one has really been able to sponsor a stock car or a race yet. (local people do not count in this case ) My Feedback
Okay, a whole bunch of you have posted about people who brought paintball "out of the woods".
When Sports Illustrated wanted to write an article about paintball, who did they turn to?
How about the guy who invented the game to begin with - in the woods!
No doubt, the most influential guy in the sport is the guy who invented it.
Charles Gaines.
Look at it this way: paintball isn't growning nearly as fast as it used to be. In fact, it may even be shrinking. The only aspect of paintball that's growing right now is scenario/woodsball.
10 years from now, when the Airball fad is over, and people get over their perception that most people who play paintball actually play on fields with inflated bunkers, and paintball is back in the woods where it ought to be, will you still say that all these Airball people were the most influential of all time?
