Yes but suburbia just outside of Detroit is not the middle of nowhere. At least being on an island makes it semiunderstandable (Is that a word?), you seriously pay that much?!? I hope you don't shoot a mag.

I pay $1.50 per 1000psi at Boston Paintball. They never fill it to 4500 either. If your gonna complain about air prices, just go get a scuba tank. I know I am.

Anything over $1.00 per 1000 psi is a rip IMO.

I'd say go to a dive shop...you can A) get some cheap scuba's there, they won't be much to look at but I trust a dive shop to judge a tank WAAAAY better then a PB store. B) fills are usually diirt cheap there, the scuba place where I use to go to would charge 2 bucks for a pb tank fill of course they may hassel you for not being dive certified or over charge cause your some punk kid

Well, it may be your opinion, and you're certainly entitled to it. But how logical is it to expect a store to run a profit at even 1$ per 1000?

If you pay 4.50 per fill on a 4500psi tank, with compressors and equipment costing anywhere from 5000 to 15000, it'll be 1000 to 3500 fills before the compressor and equipment is paid off.

That's before you pay for employees and the electricity and maintenance for the compressor.

If I had the money, I'd invest it elsewhere....

get a scuba tank..i get mine refilled for 6$..may cost a little in the beginning, but it's more than paid for itself, plus i can work on my gun without having to worry about refilling.

It's $6.50 at a couple places around here for a 4500 PSI fill. Thankfully, there's a scuba shop that's also closer to me that charges $3 for any fill, whether it's 3000 or 4500 because they know you're not going to get all 4500 you pay for unless you leave the tank with them overnight so they can fill it properly.

$13?!?!?!? Jeez . . . . 7 dollars more will get you all day air at my field. One fill, for 4500psi, is 5 bucks

It pisses me off everytime I pay $5 for a 4500psi fill and I get a hot fill that is really only 2800-3000psi anyway. That is why I bought 80cf scuba and get it filled for $5.

Yup, I certainly am. I guess I really cant answer that because most of the fields around here make to much off paint, rather than air fills, to begin with to compensate for operational costs. Nothing like going some where, blowing $20 to get in the door and then have to pay $85 a case for the only paint the field carries.

Just solely based on my own personal experiences.

What I never understood is the use of pressure as a means to charge for tank fills.

A 45ci filled to 4500psi is not the same as a 68ci filled to 4500psi. The 68ci tank is eating up more of your cascade fills, even boosters won't be the same.

                          Charge per mole?

$15 field fee gets allday air at my field plus admission.

Sometimes i go in there and need a fill just to tinker with my gun, they dont even charge me.

                            i've paied from $0-4 to fill a 68/3k flatline

Hahahaha, now field owners will have to learn how to do stoichiometry to know how much to charge.

I certainly can't complain though. Like Skife said, my field gives free all day air with admission. Even better, my admission is only $10 woot. It doesn't hurt that they're the only speedball field in the area...
