Poseurs abound. Head hunting ensues! Opinions inside!

Five years ago, I never ran into any poseurs, but I just ran into a half dozen of them last Friday.

A bunch of young teenagers were talking trash for a good hour before they actually got onto the field to play. If they figured their guns out at least.

One kid in particular had an apparent obsession with the back-corner bunker. Every single game, he stayed in the first bunker he could get to.

In one particular game, he was talking about taking the snake. I see him run for the snake, so I make my way up to the snake. As he is camping the very end of the snake, I casually walk up the snake with my gun up and firing at ~10bps. If he sticks even a finger out, he's going to get hit. He's tucked into the snake into a fetal position, so as I turn to shoot him, I let up and yell 'Surrender' to which he replies with 6 or 7 rounds into me. The kid is probably 10, and I didn't feel like bunkering him and offered the surrender.

I was pissed, and just told him to be careful with his overshooting, to which he just shrugged off and laughed. The remainder of the day consisted of me easily eliminating him each game. I was amazed at how he could justify using 400 paintballs for 3 vs 3 games that lasted only minutes. In addition to blind firing (exposing only his gun with no sense of aim or of his surroundings). I guess a lot of kids find entertainment in just pulling their trigger fast? When we were done playing, I overheard him talking about how he pulled an awesome move and lit me up. But he omitted talking about every single time I got him out.

I've never done any sort of head-hunting or anything of the sort until just this past weekend. No bonus-balling though, just good old fashined schooling.

On a positive note, his older brother was not a poseur and I fixed his Spyder for him.

I'm thinking from here on out, I will shoot any fool no matter their frailty, age, sex, immaturity, disability, stupidity, etc. I cannot stand playing paintball with these poseurs who lack sportsmanship and humility. No to mention a lack of skills. I do no want to spend my hard earned money in order to play by the rules to only be called a pussy.

With this so-called decline in paintball growth, I believe is from this trend in recreational play. Why should any new player want to return, when all they do is get overshot and bunkered? It is only recreational play. Why should any regular player want to continue playing with cheaters?

I will no longer go to the field with the notion of playing paintball and shrugging off any negative play. I will stop playing and begin hunting.

From here on out, if you are a little kid that wears any combination of the letters D, Y, or E, I will give you no mercy. I will only give you pain and humiliation.

(Disclaimer: Not all kids are douchebags, but all twibs are. No bonus-balling will be used. Only skill.)

It's posers, and you should have just bunkered the snake kid. If they don't learn how the games played right, they'll never learn.

What irritated me most, was that in order to school him, I was forced to actually run. I prefer to walk. Lots of crouching is bad on my knees and back. I'm not old or injured, just lazy.

I play mainly bushball with a bunch of people I know. We play only on private property, well secluded, etc.. Essentially being responsible. There are probably 3 or 4 farms we rotate through. One of my favorite places to play happens to come with a catch 22. The owners have a 12 year old son, who loves paintball. I infact spent a lot of time helping him get started, teaching him the rules, showing him the ropes. I did not however spend a lot of time expressing the idea of good sportsmanship to him. The catch 22 is simply this, the owners want him to be included in games, when they are on their property. A perfectly reasonable request, imho. Its a shame the kid cheats like you would not believe.

If you tag him, he walks off properly to the safe zone 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time he either pretends to walk off, then shoots you in the back, or he keeps shooting like he was never hit. I have lit him up twice now, at which point he freaks out, and storms off the field. Usually he sneaks back onto the field and shoots you in the back when you're not looking. The only stupid thing he has not done is try to tag anyone off the field. I keep expecting him to start tagging people in the safe zone. Since this is our favorite place to play generally (easy to get to, lots of room to park cars, nice people that let you use their bathroom, nice terrain and lots of trails) we all have now found a simple solution. We hunt him at the start of every round. We have him so scared, that he usually camps the start point of his team, and lobs balls at us from over 200 feet away. If he sees someone coming his way, he promptly turns and runs now. Usually somewhere quite a ways away, then he turns around and calls the person a "pussy" or a "***" for not chasing him across the property. Its terribly funny.

I want to say its an age thing, most of the guys that play with us are 28 to 60, but I have a 12 year old brother that plays with us sometimes, and he is a straight player. He even honors mercies, which is rare in a young guy.

With all that said, I have encountered young players like this all over the place. One kid who would scream gun jam, throw his gun over his head, walk past you, and then shoot you in the back. He did that to me 4 times before I started shooting him no matter what he said. At one point he was in a small tower. The upper level of this tower was covered in plywood, with a 2" opening along the bottom. I had my barrel to his ankle, and was yelling for him to surrender. Its a shame he didn't; the little bastard tried to shoot me in the head point blank. Instead I shot him in both ankles near point blank. It was really quite funny, and irresponsible of me; I was 16 at the time. He never tried any of his **** with me again after that.

Its like all these little posers need to be schooled by someone "old school" before they can calm down and become reasonable players. I realize this does not apply to everyone, some people are resopnsible players from the start. Others just never become resopnsible. I started out pretty dumb myself 12 years ago, so maybe I shouldn't sound so harsh.

Posers really do piss me off something awfull though. Thats probably why I only play with the 12 to 20 guys I know.

These younger guys get on pbnation and get the attitude of all of those guys that they look up to...The guys that are really into the sport, are on teams, shoot fast guns, etc, those are the guys that need to act maturely about stuff, in order for others to act properly. I admire some professional players, but I despise how they act on the field. If you have to use the 'f bomb' on the field, then this may not be the sport for you. I'm only 16, but I've been playing for 5 years, and I SURELY dont act like those immature idiots that we all encounter.

i seriously dont know where kids get the attitude. When i first started playing I was practically worshiping anybody who had an electro. Now its all these kids thinking they are hot **** (as my football coach would say). Some blame pros for this but i disagree. i blame the kid's parents. I mean its their responsibility to install some sort of sportmanship in their kid. Thats just my two cence.

Lucikly and fortunately the posers stay out of my way and the folks i play vs/with are some stand up people.

yeah, that sucks man, i see a lot of the poser types in so-cal. not all young players in dye jerseys are bad, i've met 1 or 2 (out of hundreds) that are pretty cool.
it really pisses me off when i try to be the nice guy and shoot them once, instead of lighting them up like an a-hole. but then the second i turn my back, they wipe the mark where i hit them, and decide its a great time to use their ions ramping on me. makes me very angry.

Maybe it's because of a lack of parents playing with their kids.

The people who start playing now do not have parents to teach the proper sportsmanship and playing etiquette?

well i don't think it's entirely that, they look at the player that wins games or eliminates more people and follow his example... onle many of the players that do with the games are the ones with the attitude.
