Eh, don't go light up every 10 year old in a Dye jersey you see... Being a dick to people because of their age or what they look like isn't cool. On the other hand, if I offer someone a surrender so I don't light them up point blank and they shoot back at me, I'll sure as hell make them wish they hadn't. People shouldn't start **** they can't finish.

I encounter these kids all the times, mainly becasue I ama teacher, but I see them on the field as well In most of the fields I play on the explicitly say "NO SURRENDER RULE" This isn't done to be mean, it is to avoid the situation you stated. If you have the shot take it. Especially with these annoying kids who think the game is all about shooting as many balls at people as they can. Have I overshot anyone, of course. Was it on purpose, not really, but it does happen. A lot of attitudes today are that they can do whatever they want. Just try to educate them and calmly tell them that their attitude is wrong. What would other players do on the baseball field if a kid stayed at the plate after they struck out?

The last time I offered the surrender option to some punk kid, in the woods of all places, I was using my phantom. He spun and one for oned me...

Walking off I made a few comments in the staging area about not offering the surrender option any more that day. The kids buddies told him no big deal, I mean, I was shooting a pump.

Should have seen the look on his face when I started putting the Shocker together and demonstrated ramping mode

He took three the next time I had the chance, and the next too...

First off great post!!! You'd have to be dead not to let these little hotshots get to you at some point.

I think what burns me the most about them is that they just don't realize the any given Sunday rule. Any player can shoot out another sometimes. Be it luck, or a mistake...we all get shot. How many of us have been taken by a rogue bounce off the break? Or gotten hit by a ball bouncing off a nearby airbunker? Well some people take that as skill and let it go to their head. They have absolutely no humility about it whatsoever.

Recently we had some kid calling out one of the players on the team. Calling him "snowball" and such. It got let go as long as possible, but finally led to the inevitable one on one. Well the kid catches a lucky bounce off a bunker and manages to eliminate the MUCH better player. It has taken weeks of game and a bit of punishment to get his feet back on the ground.

I have had a few altercations with little nooblets talking smack and overshooting. One such occasion almost led to my being expelled from the field and there was talk of legal action from a parent. All because his kid didn't know how to listen to a ref and stop shooting....thats another story. The end result being that I try my best to ignore the little "craps" and don't go headhunting anymore.

Everywhere I play the surrender rule is strictly enforced. If you hear someone ask for a surrender, turn to see someone behind you giving you the option, you must graciously accept. Sportsmanship is an expected trait among the players or they will be ejected from the game.

              new money

Everyone has seen it. The noob with the hot gun. Back in the day it was the kid with the tricked out VM68 that i head hunted. Today it is the kid with the Angel or some type of high tech gizmo and dayglow camo. I can only say that it is your responsibilty to teach these kids the rules being the older and wiser.
I am bringing my son into the sport this year. The only markers IMO to start with on the semi level are mags. So thats what I got for him. I also got him the jersey and matching gear. I will never let him play without my presence. Unlike some parents who believe that there children will not be influenced by outside factors while they are out doing what they do. While leaving there kids with there freinds at the field. I have been teaching my son the basics since he was old enough to hold a marker. Smack talk classes are not part of the Curiculum.
What i am getting at here. If you want the kids to play fare you have too teach them just like you were. They are only looking for acceptance from the people closest to them. If they dont get the response they want the inapropriate behavior will end. But thats just what i see every day.

I tell my soldiers that i will treat them like men until they act like a kid. Then I will treat them like a kid. I have also instilled in my son that he has to act responsibly to be able to play paintball. If not i will confiscate his gear and he will never play again. Besides if he messes up I get another gun

hi its been along time since i have been on these boards and boy how its changed. Not only the boards but also paintball in general. 2005 has been sort of an off year for me and i have not played as much as in 2004. Back in 2004 i played at my normal private field and several places where the rich kids go to flaunt their new toys. Big fields attract more riff-raff.

The field i play at is a small family owned place that is right now considering banning the use of HPA, to insure that a more friendly atmosphere is maintained and that fast shooting or practicing team players dont come in and make it poor fun for the rest of everyone else. Now i believe that this idea to ban is plain wrong but i see where there comin from.

Hot heads come in all ages. It seems though when a kid who enters the sport without graduating from beginner level guns up has not learned skill just that his gun shoots fast. Then again you can talk trash with a Brass Eagle Talon but most wont take you seriously. I never talk trash to anyone nor do i show off or showboat. I dont think that this sport needs that kind of behavior. I shoot my E-Mag and sometimes will drop to my 1st gun a tigershark on days or games i feel like taking it easy and remembering the days when i first shot it amongst fast shooting tippmanns and spyders.

I dont think its players that are to blame as much as it is the fields themselves. Fields and the refs have the ability to weed out unsavory types and stop things from escalating to 1v1 or to actual fights. If anyone did something "field illegal" or plain dishonest i would report it to a ref and perhaps the owner and tell them that this behavior is not something i would allow and that you if you had a choice of going to that field and another youd chose the other.

The best way to fight this behavior is to ignore it and to just show that they are what they are. My best example of this is going into a game with a pump or other slower shooting gun or cheapo and doing as good or better than those with $2000 equipment shooting 20+bps

yeah, i know a lot of 5th and 6th graders who do that, and, another thing i noticed is a lot of the 10 year olds,er younger players, that, they pick a lot of fights. Once, (this weekend) i had a 10 year old kid that was half my weight and almost a foot shorter than me say "he was going to beat the crap out of me" i find that really anooying. fights dont belong on a paintball field.

i see this behavoir a lot, mostly in wild animals. especially in elephants. it's really odd, you would think if the parent (sometimes the kid) can dump 1k+ into a marker they would appear succesful in the business world, meaning they are somewhat intelligent and capable of raising a child. but i guess parents now-a-days are too busy pushing getting a high gpa to actually pay attention to what their children are playing and doing in their free time. i guess morals, common curtesy, and common sence are going the way of the dodo.

if he was bluffing, why did you even give him the option of surrender?

if he was a new kid renting a gun, then yes, please surrender them. anybody else that is dressed in jerseys and paintball pants should be shot. and the ones bluffing should be shot twice more if they can't even play.

Posers and AGG kidz are always targeted first! It's just fun to watch them get upset and throw their markers. Oh yeah, they suffer a bunker, no surrenders for them. I have way too much respect foir their mad skillz as to insult them with a surrender.

its the pbn crowd.... to them it just about having a 1337 ramping gun. alot of the kids i play with are like that. i find a phantom is more effective in teaching them a lesson than another 1337 uber-gun like theirs.

I will always remember when the kid with some sort of spyder clone with a gravity hopper blew me away while I confidently gunfaught him in speedball. I got off the field with my mask covered in paint in complete confusion. I was thinking, " what just happened?"

and thats part of the beauty of paintball.
