Now seriously... this is just up the hill from you guys at UT. So might be fun. They do say they are going to be on campus's recruiting. So email him and see if he is coming to UT and if not see if he will.
If you look back on it, UT and Peach bowls dont mix at all. I have a couple of friends who say clemson is a nice school, but miss UT more.

Well for future reference guys, I emailed them and they said the minimum age they would take is 19. What a pity.

My understanding is they pay quite well considering and depending on how you look at it. I might have some of this a bit off because its third hand information but...

I was told they pay a bit over 11 bucks an hour. But the source could not tell me how many hours a day you get paid for. I assumed it was only 8. But he did not think to ask that question.

But you stay there 24 hours a day and technicaly are on duty 24 hours a day while camp is in session. Except you get one night off a week and one full day off a week. You are staying in a cabin with four campers each night your on duty. But you get the food and lodging during all those days at no charge. And the Main staff cabin has internet access.

so you have to figure your making money but not really having to spend any money to live. And very little opportunity nor need to spend money all Summer.

My kid has interviewed and has had several call backs. One to preliminary offer. And one yesterday which he missed for that is to be returned today some time. We assume thats going to be an offer but we don't know yet. He was in class when the message was left.

When he first contacted them (the next day from when I posted this notice) they called him the next day to tell him that they were in town on Clemson Campus and to come by for an interview. He did. They then called him a few days later to tell him they were wanting to hire him for Rifelry. He is a Police Academy certified marksman through Explorers. And took first last year in competition. Or second... I forget.... So they were interested in that. Rather than Paintball. So he said fine... and so they said as soon as they checked his references they would get back to him. And yesterday they tried to call him and left a message that they would call back today. So we assume they are about to offer him a position for the summer. So if that is true I should be able to give you more details about the pay and stuff later.

He does not know if he will be involved in the paintball stuff. But he assumes that he will be.

He did say that a local Stock Car driver and team is based near there and every year they come up and together the entire camp builds a stock car from a junk car and then enters and races it at a local track. So they do automotive stuff too.

More when I got it. Did anyone apply? Did anyone hear back?

                Ok, here is the deal.

They pay you $1800 for 12 weeks. That comes out to just $150 a week. You get room and board and everything. You work 6 days a week and you get one evening off and one day (24 hour period) off per week. You do your activities leadership (your specific specialty that they hire you for) during the day and keep a Cabin at night. Three campers assigned to your cabin and your charge.

Even though your hired for one particular specialty you do rotate around and do some of the others. Caleb was offered a position as Rifle instructor. He will also do the Paintball sections along with whomever does that. We are not certain who that will be or if it will be someone local that has a field does it. We think thats what they intend to do. Is bring in a local field owner and do some stuff that way. Caleb intends to take his gear and see if he can do some coaching of speedball but he assumes they are going to focus more on Woods scenario or something. Not certain even they know yet what they want to do. So he probably will have some influence on the final outcome of the program this first year.

Not a lot of pay at all for the hours put in. But no where to spend it for that 12 weeks and nothing to spend it on anyway. So even though that's a down side, I think the experience and situation would be rewarding. And a good reference builder for a young college student. Somewhere to spend a Summer in the mountains helping kids and getting in shape and banking most of the money. One would assume you would make twice or three times that flipping burgers but then again one would spend half that living and would have to get full time (which is hard to get in the Summer) so in the end your doing something a lot more rewarding and banking about the same money. When Summer is over you sitting on, lets say, $1500 to $1800 saved. And start back to school with that in your pocket. Your also in the loop for next Summer. And for each and every Summer your in College you got a job. I assume they pay better to returning staff.

They do an exhaustive interview and reference checking. They are very picky about the staff. They call every one of your references and they check background and they ask personal questions. They also submit all of this to a board that redirects even more questions. Its fairly intensive. Your not going to get an offer if you have a bad background. They cannot afford to have trouble with their staff. So I suspect once you have been offered and once you have done a good job one year your expected to return and the offer gets more lucrative. The present Staff seems fairly close nit. They have already started emailing Caleb and making contact with him. So they already know each other and most of them return each year. So thats probably a good sign that its a good place too work.

So he is going to sign his contract and go work for them this Summer. I will ask him to post up here from time to time to update us on the Camp and its Paintball program as it come about.
