the way you mess with ebay scammers is:

    1.create false account
    2. Bid $20,000 or 1 million on all of his items

result he can't get a sell and has to create a new account.

Steelrat- yeah I know, if it doesnt all get straightened out I was thinking about it. It looks like ebay is going to straighten it out on both sides but it never should have happened in the first place.

Actually in ways you are safer w/ transactions on forums. Third parties can be a very nice way to trade. However it has to be a mutual 3rd party. I normally use Paintballer187 (paintballer187.com) on PBN for a 3rd party. He has the most feedback on pbn, he is a mod, and his turn around time is very fast. And I know there are many other very reputable people out there offering 3rd party services, besides the reputable people out there trading.

The bid retraction is the worst, and as a buyer that is a red flag to avoid the seller. A seller can create a new account and post an absurd bid on his own item, then go back through the bid history to reveal what the next highest bid was. The seller then retracts his own higher bid, then uses another, third bogus account to bid exactly one dollar below the high bid, forcing the winning bidder to their maximum price.

I do the same thing. I've had so many auctions where I've gotten sniped at the last minute by some guy that had been in a 2-day bidding war with me. Then, all of the sudden...an hour after the acution closes...I get a message saying there has been a bid retraction and I can get the item for my high bid. I NEVER do it. I realize it could be legitimate...but there are just too many people out there bidding up their own stuff...that's not how the auction is supposed to work and I'm more than happy when they bid themselves out of a sale.

I've used Ebay to buy just about everything I own (paintball related). It's the only affordable way to go. I got a Mag for $67 or something like that. It needed some cleaning and a parts kit...but the local store was selling a new one for $299 without a barrel. I've gotten all kinds of guns and equipment...and I think the most I've paid is $100 in any one auction.

The up side is Ebay can get you good stuff at a good price. The bad side...I've gotten some horrible stuff before!! I bought a Stingray once...I think I payed way too much for it anyway....but when I finally got it...it wouldn't work. When I tried to take it apart to clean it...the parts came out in a broken, rusted, mess...as if the gun had been stored in a fish tank for 3 years...that was the worst. My advice to people buying stuff off Ebay is don't pay too much and assume what you're buying is going to be in worse shape than what they say it is. I've never gotten something and had it be better than advertised...
