I like to knitt steel. Some people prefer to call it making chain maille but I like to call it knitting steel to see what kind of funny looks I can get. I have recently aquired a mag after not owning one for some time (All most 5 years. YIKES!!
) Yesterday I was sitting at home listening to an audio book on my computer and I started knitting. After about 6 hours I had this.
This is a close up of the Barrel condom so that you can see what it actually is. It's 14 guage fencing wire in a European 4in1 configuration. mI believe the ID of the links is 1/4", but I may be wrong.
Here it is next to a regular Barrel Condom to give you an idea of size. Not quite the same length but it doesn't need to be.
Lastly here it is on my mag Pre-Pneu-Mag/Y-Grip conversion (But that's for another thread).
This is more for show than practical use. If will stop a ball I have no doubt of that. It won't stop the paint or the broken shell I'm afraid and that's one reason for it to be for show. The second is that because it's metal on Metal it can and will scratch a barrel. Hopefully sometime this summer I will be able to get my hands on a barrel I can test it with. I can't wait to watch it chew up a pod of paint in a real test. That was how I tested the first barrel condom I ever saw, unfortunately I filled a 14" barrel iwth broken paint and made a right mess of the inside of the barrel condom.
Let me know what you guys think.

".

) and the tip of your barrel gets covered in paint, requiring a squeegee that i never have. This would project the paint onto some unsuspecting citizen, but would leave my barrel clean.
..that made me chuckle.
But you said, you were listening to an audiobook when making it. So what book?
