I'm sorry, this was a joke. I didn't think everyone would get so mad about it. I was just trying to see how much people really hate the ION. And it seems that its not enough to give someone, WHO HAS A JOB, $400. Really, the only possible way I could say I didn't like an ION is if I bought one and I didn't like it. And I'm pretty sure that everyone on this forum who hates the ION hasn't actually had one and shot it enough to see if they like it or not. I did shoot one for a day, stock, and I thought it was almost like any other electro. I didn't hate it, and I think that a lot of hate towards the SP ION is groundless. Can some people actually tell me why they hate the ION?

Also, some of you guys are jerks.

Oh, and I don't have a PayPal.

Yeah, but have you noticed how a lot of military weapons are plastic nowadays? Innumerable handguns, the G36, the new XM8, etc. Polymer frames have their advantages, man. Not least of which is COST, because they can be molded instead of milled or stamped.

I've never even held an ION, though, so I can't really comment on them.

Oh, and I thought it was pretty obvious that the original poster was joking. Hell, I chuckled. Some of the more ivory-tower people here don't have a very well-developed sense of humor. Though in their defense I HAVE seen some pretty pathetic appeals for handouts online, so I guess it's easy to get jaded.

I have shot an Ion and actually ended up working on it for a day. That is why I do not like them.

If "plastc" can withstand the stresses created by police officers and countless others, I think it can handle a ball of paint. Get a new argument. It's old and WRONG.

Since when are Ion shells built of military-grade polymers? The look a hell of a lot more like a supersoaker than the Glock 21 we own.

When are people going to get over the fact that the plastic on the Ion is merely COSMETIC!!!

C'mon guys, you can't honestly not know by now that the plastic shell of the Ion has NOTHING to do w/ performance. So yay, maybe you think the shell makes it look bad. Whoopdefrickindoo. Next time I hear the "Ion is plastic = sucks" argument...grr...

The Ion's shell doesn't HAVE to be military-grade polymer, as all it does is keep the internals clean. Last I checked, it didn't have to sustain the stress that actual firearms are subjected to. Now seriously people; I respect your opinions of SP and the Ion, and if you think it just plain sucks, I'm fine with that. But don't use lame excuses like this to back up your argument. At least use logic, and some level of intelligence.

Yeah but the Glock is made out of a Cermanic .... It's tested to deal with the stress of firing live ammunition ....

Granted that doesn't mean that the ION wasn't tested with it's plastic body, but the plastic they use at smart parts is not even in the same LEAGUE as the plastics used in real firearms.

So that arguement is just crap.

SP moved to plastic not for making the marker lighter ... but to line the pockets of share holders with the reduced production costs.

The fact that there is plastic on the Ion doesn't mean squat. I was answering the "It's plastic so it's crap" argument that morons stand behind because they don't know any better or bother to think for themselves.

In no way do I think that a Glock and an Ion use even close to the same grades, I just wanted to point out that "plastic" in general has been used in higher stress applications without problems.

Using the one you pointed out I used "You'll" which was a typo of "y'all" the context should have been a bit confusing, and for that I apologise. The rest, however, I stand by.
