if money was no option
i would go with the 06 cyborg
they are not the most expensive gun on the market
but they are the best
can you say 30 bps with paint?
but then again some said try out some different guns
if your going to drop $1000+ on a gun you should make sure you like the gun first
try out the ego, dm6, and cyborg and see what you like the bestComment

As Rogue mentioned, the Cyborg is a good choice. One of my teammates just sold his Str8Killas Cyborg. He also has an Ego and just liked how the Ego felt. He loved how fast it was but he did not like all that extra space milled up right behind the vertical ASA and regulator.
A spooler is a little more tempermental than something like an Ego in the cold, so I'd take that into consideration. You may have to try out a few lubes to see what works best. I live in NC so I have no problem with Slick Honey and really want to try out Hater Sauce. My guess would be that Dow 33 or the Dye Slick lube would work better in the cold.
Whatever you do, do not get a Timmy. Now that I see you are from Canadia, I know that will not be a good choice. They are somewhat hard on paint and every single winter I see people walk off with their new Alias that has paint just oozing out of the eye covers.Comment

Don't forget the Vikings...
Buy a used 04 unmilled viking with ups for $550 or so, and throw another $450-500 on one of like 8 different custom millings and a new anno. Your own custom gun, can keep up with ANYTHING, and will never have maintenence problems. Look into it: www.akaowners.orgyou know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...

the dm4 is the same as the dm6 as a 2k6 timmy is the same as an origional, not all that the same.
bolts are different, dm6 is much more efficient than both the dm4 and 5
opperating pressures are lower, dm6 as i stated is around 140, dm4/5 is around 180, pm5 is 220, pm6 180
lpr's are different-dm6 uses a much more higher flowing, better self compensating lpr.
solenoids are different- dm6 as a faster flowing and cycling solenoid, providing up to and over 30 cps, dm4/5/pm5/classic trix craps out around 24
triggerframes/boards are different
eye system is different
weight and ballance is different
if you need any matrix information, im the one to go to about it, i am undisputably the most knowledgeable on these boards about the matrix, and its many variants. dye is constantly improving the designs of these markers, the dm6 is the cutting edge of spool technology at the moment, but be ware, there is a 99% chance that at world cup, dye will release a dm7, or something along those lines. As i said, they are constantly trying to improve the design.
Also, with some home done improvements, you can get viking like efficiency. the most notable being the top hat mod, and pollishing of the bolt and a proper lube selection. Dow 33 for the winter, hater sauce for the summer.
also, once the regs break in (which every marker needs, not just the matrix) you will find that you can lower your lpr, improve the ball on bolt lightness even more, and you will see a raise in consistency and efficiency, and coupled with a lower dwell, which you can set once the regs break in, and of course, after performing the easy modifications, you can lower the dwell even more, providing once again, a nother gain in efficiency.
trust me, get the dm6, you will not be dissapointed.
btw, and sorry for not saying this earlier, welcome back man, long time no see!

Never, ever use Dye Slick lube! In moderate weather it will perform ok, but in cold weather it will cause bolt stick and first shot drop off, causing paint breaks in your barrel because the first ball has not left the barrel yet, etc. At home your gun works fine, but when you get at the field and your gun cools to ambient temperatures, the problems start...Originally posted by stop whining buy a magI'm dominating this thread, stay out of it!

If you want a good lube, use DOW33, even the dye techs advise you to use this instead of their own lube. Also remember to up your lpr pressure in cold weather to cope with bolt stick, since even DOW33 will be a bit thicker when cold. I have not tried any other lubes yet, i have some hater sauce but i still need to try that. I have played with my marker at around 32 degrees F and had no real problems with the gun, if correctly lubed and adjusted.
It seems you really want to go with a trix, but i would advise to also try some other markers out there. Choice of marker is a personal choice, and it would be a shame to buy a new marker that isn't the right one for you. My first DM4 i sold to a guy and he didn't like the feel of it, so he sold it and got an ego06. Better to try twice than to buy twice.
Or, you could decide to become a gun-whore and buy lots of markers. I've got a DM4, a 2k4 E1 orracle cocker, and soon a Xmag. But also this has it's backside... like choosing the gun you are going to play with that day.

During cold weather you should bump up your dwell not your LPR. If you turn out your LPR you'll be blending paint.Originally posted by FiXeLNever, ever use Dye Slick lube! stop whining, you are partially correct.
you should turn up your dwell, but you do need to turn up your lpr as well, the lpr controls the bolt, and if the bolt cannot move, than what good is venting air going to do? not much.

I think an Alias style Timmy would be a great option. They are down to $550 brand new for the Warped, RL, and Lasoya models. I've been using them for awhile and their reliability and ease of use has really stood out to me. I've never once even had single break of any kind using them.
Outside of those, I will also recommend the DM6 (just dropped to $1200) and Ego. I'd skip anything made by Smart Parts to avoid the inevitable headaches. I'd also avoid any electronic mags. My own experiances with them have shown they aren't worth the hassle, particularly with the price and availability of the afformentioned guns.Comment
