If you could change the way mags operate...

What would you change? This is by no means a thread to bash automags, I was just wondering what people would change about mags and why. Heres my list:

-Macroline from ASA to Valve. To bad they didn't slightly thicken the rail and run line through it. Can this be done?

-The fact that if you wanna swap trigger frames everything has to come off the rail. The screw holding the mainbody is removed, along with the valve screw.

So what may I ask is keeping you from running macro from the ASA to the valve? I have seen people do it.

I meant elimating the pass through of the foregrip to the asa then to the outside of the gun to the valve. I just think it would be much better if it wasn't visible.

well nothing really differnt about the valve just make the Ule body a stock option on a classic to make a new 68 Automag (back to the roots) and lay the SS bodies to rest.

Note make a limited edition of a ule minimag body.

edit sry I think my old valve with 68 Automag looks better then Classic stamped into the side of it

i think the rail and body should be integrated, and the body should go all the way over the valve, like taking the internal parts out of a shocker except this is just a casing...

i dont know if that makes sense to anyone else...

Can be done using a hardline through the rail. The only parts that would show would be:
                  a) small part of the hardline coming out of the rail so it can connect to the valve.
                  b) small part of the hardline from the vertical asa into the rail

You could clean it up more by having the vertical asa custom made so that the hardline comes out from the top and directly into the rail, rather than from the side. This will probably be the cleanest way to do it, so you see nothing except for the small bit of the hardline that has to come out of the rail to connect to the valve.

What kind of tubing would you use for the hardline? Regular ole' macroline? Something smaller?

                        umm

Hardline isn't macroline, It's, well, hardline. Came on some of the old RTmags. Search here on the forums for a pic.

Hardline = metal tubing with the same internal diameter as macroline. Brass or Stainless. Maybe copper or aluminium although you would need to check the max pressure they can handle. I think copper is like 1500psi max. Brass and Stainless can handle 3000+ psi. Aluminium may be the weakest of the lot.

Although macroline is flexible, its not that flexible for tight turns. And Microline would be a no no as it'll starve the valve.

Palmer Pursuits sell metal tubing, so have a look there. You will need a tube/pipe bender to bend the tube into the shape you want to run through the rail.

There are some pics on AO (I think in the pic thread) of some markers running a hardline from their vert asa to their valve which looks really nice and clean. It is run externally tho, however it does give you an idea of how smart it looks compared to macro or steel braided, if you decide trying to get it to run internally is too daunting a task.

replace the on/off with an IONish solenoid and have a pnumatic sear ram in there as well.
                            thus a true electropnumatic mag.
                            Thats my dream.
