    AND the result is.....

    TAC-ONE

Im gonna budget $850 for it, plus about $150 of "oh, I didn't know I needed that" expense overrun.

SO, only twice my original budget.

The following year I will worry about an aftermarket barrel.

Oh no, im not talking about the elbow. I had an elbow. I had to get a size adaptor. Probably because I bought a cheap hopper that was a non-standard size. The adapter fit the hopper onto the elbow, which in turn attached ot the spyder.

That's ok though, eventually I tinkered enough with i to get it so that the entire gun leaked and was useless.

I threw the hopper in the trash.

        The gun was still attached.

        Im glad I did it.

        Stupid "easy to mod" spyder.

Anyways, that ugly scene was was about eight years ago, before I met the wifey.

And as for going for a gun from the gunsmith, huh? I don;t get it. The prices are almost exactly the same, if I add the $30 for the hose kit, and the magsmith doesn't come with a barrell.

        That makes the tac cheaper.

i would say buy a better tank then your looking at (for 80 you must be looking at a steel 47/300 correct?) if you get a low end tank then it will certinly be one of the first thinks you want to upgrade, i would just get a crossfire 68/4500 right off the bat to save you some money later, i think they run a little under 200, 160 to 180ish i think.

I would opt for the rt pro and with lucky paintball selling steel HPA tanks for $50 dollars ( http://www.buyluckypaintball.com/servlet/StoreFront ) it just makes sense to use HPA from the get go.

I have looked at the magsmith, several times. I just don't see the added value....?

No insult intended, but perhaps Im just a bit clueless?

All the same stuff comes on a tac one, and the tac one has a barrel, the magsmith gun comes without one.

                HUH?

ALso, I could care less about looks. Well, let me rephrase. I dont want to show up on my first day back next year wit han expensive gun that looks shiny new and draws lots of attention, especially since im liekly to get pwned multiple trimes by the tippman crowd. It may take some time for my latend god-like paintball skills to come into play.

But thanks for pointing me at the magsmith. Im still leaning hard towards a plain classic/pro or a tac one.

And personally, I do like the tac one looks better.

And thank you all for being so patient with me. I really appreciate ALL the answers I am getting, and the info. Im learning a lot. I sponge up paintball stuff like....well like a sponge.

Personally, I think the ULE body ^^^ looks much nicer and cleaner than the Tac 1 ... plus, with all those sight rails on the Tac 1 you'll be tempted to put on a scope or 3 and then you might as well spray paint NEWBIE on your back in orange letters (c:

You're right though, buying a Classic new these days makes no real sense, it's only worth it used as a budget marker. You get more bang for the buck starting with a higher grade marker. I like the way you think.

You might tell the wife that these markers also come in a variety of colors, as well as the valves. Show her a few pictures for the photo section, maybe she'll like a couple. Try to get her to go along with you ... it's much easier to justify the expense when you're talking to another paintball addict.

                    Heh...

The only reason she goes along with me getting into painball is the fact that it means I won't be building a 16' sialboat in our garage, going to graduate school, and most importantly, losing the spare pounds.

Wifey doesn't like the new, bigger, better JD. She wants her less chubby hubby back. And she wants him alive long enough to make it to retirement.

Oh, and one more thing. She played one time. She got a bruise. Poor wifey. She won't go near an airfield now.

I wouldn't mount a thing on the rails except the one thing I really need:
A cup holder for that coke that I am going to squeeze into the budget.

Um a Revolution is a gravity fed hopper, it is an agitated hopper but that is the limit of it as it is still gravity fed, think about a force feed hopper then you have a little more choice, Halo or the new Brass Eagle/Viewloader (probably) POS plastic hopper.

My missus shot herself in the arm, refuses to play anymore. Hates the fact that I <3 paintball markers. I know your situation^^.

If you're looking for a flat out mechanical mag I'd suggest the following (since you won't be firing 15 + bps anyways with a mech for under 500)

                              50$ Classic valve
70$ Revvy + warp (you won't firing at huge speeds, so you might need the manueverability)
                              90$ Intelliframe ( personal preference)
45$ Right powerfeed body (to hook up the warp...Left if you are left handed)
45$ Mag freak back, a good sized insert (depends on the paint at your local feild) and a 12in front.

                              - Right there you have 300 dead on with a marker that can :

                              Fire accurately and moderately quickly
Will not chop (You won't outshoot the warp/rev)
You will not break the bank, so to speak.

                              http://www.pbnation.com/showthread.php?t=1577474 is something like that.

Alternately there's the A5/98 route which is standard and cheap.

Or maybe I will just feed the balls in by hand, one at a time. I can't see having a hopper, when the coke can is in the way.
