AO: We are back from the dead... again! After an 18 day outage, we are finally alive and well. Who knew how complicated updating software/databases from 2008 would be. I still have alot of tweaks to make, but my main goal was getting everything patched and updated to 2026.
Vbulletin 6 has changed alot since 2008 so we will have a ton of new features to dig into.
How many of our regular posters don't play anymore?
I haven't played in quite a while. I sold all my stuff that was just sitting around and kept the bare minimum that I needed (which, in retrospect, I should have done long ago anyway) and what wouldn't sell. I've still got my Mag and a Spyder I picked up as a loaner.
I don't play much anymore since the fields around here suck. My original hangout closed up shop about three years ago, after which I went to a great place run by a couple guys who started it so people would have somehwere decent to play that didn't cost an assload. Well, needless to say, they got bought out and long story short, it's now run by PBC. Due to all the "improvements" they've made (meaning now we have an X ball and a dirt field instead of the old setup, which was a ten-man hyperball, five-man hyperball, wall ball and airball courses) the air and field fees have doubled and tripled respectively, and no one hangs out there other than tourney players. That doesn't bother me so much as the fact that they only play on their own teams and only scrimmage other teams, so it's damn near impossible to get a walk-on game going.
Are you talking about the the paintball spot in Rockhill, NC?
I play about once every two months. I don't play much in the summer though. It's way too hot in North Carolina.
Yesterday I played for the first time in over a year. It was a get together of AKA and AGD users, though strangely I was using a Blazer. It was fun going to a nice mech gun, as I did a lot less shooting and a lot more moving.
The wierdest part was looking over at the airball fields. With everyone using ramp, it just sounded, well, stupid. Nothing but guys raining paint all over the damn place. I played a few times, but I really enjoyed the woodsball games a lot more. I'm looking forward to playing several more times this year, though the whole speedball scene definately doesn't look like as much fun as it used to.
It also sucks that I moved away from a good group I used to play with. Until I find another here, it won't be nearly as much fun. Hanging out with friends is the best part of a day of paintball.
I haven't played in almost a year and a half now. Gas, and always wanting to have the newest equipment ate all my money so I had to sell everything to pay for school and art supplies. Needless to say their has been quite a hole in my life for sometime now.
Old School Baller
Have a Viking, still miss my X-Mag
These days, i play once or twice a month, if that. I have only been to a field once since IAO of last year. I do most of my playing in my buddy's woods. Casual, laid-back attitude from a bunch of guys with the same old-school outlook of putting fun first. Not to say we don't play hard. It's just different than what you get at a field. For example, I've been playing with my Sydarm lately.
I play every weekend, as i have for the past 16 months, sans my devilmag, or any automag for that matter(bummer). But thats about to change. my DM is supposedly being shipped tomarrow. but i definatly play more than i post.
Not playing anymore, or very rarely if that. My groups' annual big game that we've been going to for 15 years was even cancelled this year, so it sounds like we're done for good.
Too many other hobbies, wives, and kids, and not enough time.
But on the bright side, I'll get a ton of room back in my house since I'm liquidating all of my paintball stuff!
i don't, sadly. i want to. it isn't so much i DON'T play anymore it's that i can't since i'm broke as hell trying to get a nice camcorder. i just go out and photograph and every once in a while someone lends me their stuff for a round if i get good shots of them, haha.
