Ok Ive got a question thats been floating in my mind since this weekend. Me and my team were in a local tourney this weekend. It was our very first tourney ever, and not to mention we have only been playing for close to a year, so we decided to enter in the beginner's bracket. Our 4 man team only uses mags nothing else. Needless to say we wiped out the bracket winning 1st place with a record of 12 & 0. After the tourney the field owner told me something that would boggle a mag owners mind. The field owner is one of paintball's old timer's. I asked him what he thought about our performance and he replied "You guys did great, but if we were going to bump up to a higher level such as intermediate, or open that our mag's being pnuematic with ULT trigger's and all would'nt stand a chance against today's marker's such as Shocker's, Timmy's, DM 6 and all". I dont know about everyone else but automags are to me the only markers of choice. I really cant see switching to another marker. I just wanted to know if anyone out there plays in a higher bracket against these so called domintating marker's. Is it really possible to stay in competion with these guy's. Give a fellow mag owner some info so I can get it off my shoulder. Thanks for the info.
Automags VS New aged marker's

hmm
well can the high end elctros ramp? if so, you may be at a disadvantage, but if its pure semi, i dont see why you wouldnt be able to compete, and if ramping is allowed, then match electro to electro, emags, xmags, dmags, hypermag, spydermags, get the point?BEO MAFIA

Yes there basic NPPL rules. I believe its ramping up to 15 BPS during tourney's, at 300 FPS.

NPPL rules ban ramping for the record. I have taken my mag out at practice against ramping electros and not noticed a ton of disadvantage. That being said I have never been one to shoot a lot of paintOriginally posted by Shotcaller509Yes there basic NPPL rules. spydermag is the soultion if you MUST have something faster. i however have done fine in tourney's against all the new high end electros. our team dominated a team shooting 4 egos and a nerve, then another team all with DM6's. we had my Zmag (tad bouncy, but they didnt check it) a tippy, and 2 ions with revvy's

I haven't used my x-mag in full open class play but another x-mag user swears by his and does well with it against allcomers...

Alot of people in the tourney scene are brain-washed thinking it's the marker that makes the player "good"... But remember, a player with no skill can't do jack even if they have the most expensive setup.
Don't loose any sleep over what that guy said... your team and gear performed well and took 1st place.

These threads are hillarious.
Take two players of equal skill.
Give each a marker, one a new aged marker with ramping and eyes and one old tech.
Play 100 games.
The player with the new marker is going to win about 55-60 (not studied numbers, my opinion) of those games assuming ALL else equal.
That being said, chances are all of us can get more out of improving our game than improving our marker. Improving our marker is just easier."Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. Its not" - Dr Suess
