for $150 it will not be competition for the ION. The ION shoots faster, has more upgrades, has a LARGE fan following, looks 27.5 times better, and isn't made by a "woodsball company"

The tiumph will see some good sales as it will sell to SP haters and long time tippmann fans. And another thing going for it is it's backed by the tippmann name, but that means very little when the average beginner paintballer either upgrades in 5 months or quits. but won't be anything near to waht the ION was/is/will be. Now if the eXT was $99, then you might start converting some people...But @ $150 a stock ION is pretty attainable. Go onto PBN and look at the number of BST threads "LNIB ION shot twice in back yard"

Be honest...If you were a kid, would you spring an extra 10-15 bucks for the ION? I would.

I suspect that you'll see the eXT Power Pack for under $150.00 by Christmas, where it'll become juicy for parents that have no clue what they're buying. All they'll see is a whiz bang looking marker package with accessories that will make junior happy. My Brother In Law is a perfect example. For Christmas, junior got a BE POS with a mask, tank, hopper, and paint, becuase it had "Everything you needed to play" for like $99.00.

Looks aside though, I'm beginning to wonder if Tippmann is going downhill as well. Plastic internals in guns and now a plastic body too? Hopefully this gun will be at least slightly more reliable than the cars of the same name

man, i wonder what motivated tippmann to break away from their style so much.

tippmanns have always been really low on flash, but big on strength/reliability and full of fun mods.

this looks like its a complete 180 turn from their well earned reputation.

wasn't tippmann bought by some big company, like WGP was, and if so, do you think that could be an influence in this marker? this seems like tippmanns equivalent of WGP's trilogy series...

Bleh...I wouldn't get one. Even if it performs well enough for how much you spend, if I don't connect with the product I'm buying, I'm just not going to use it. Plain and simple. But like others have said, it looks like something I can use to paint my house with or wash my car with. But to play paintball with...eh...I'll pass.

Now that I think about it...I do have a question. Does the paintball industry have anything similar to "focus tests"? Before they commit to something or even start producing things, have they even asked the target audience whether or not they like it? Cause if the customer has to compromise their decision, isn't that doing the customer a disservice? Now, it's the companies dictating to the consumers what we want and not the other way around. Is that really progress?

i think what this is, is tippmann changing there target audience, it looks like there going the way of BE. make a ton of crappy markers for cheap and sell them to kids. for as crappy as BEs products are i dont belive that they are in troble finacialy. it just sucks for tippmanns followers that the company they love is being taken from them.
and if you arnt a tippmann fan it still sucks, ill bet that 90%+ people here first played with a tippmann, now we dont even have anything to look back on.

did anybody notice that it doesnt seem to have tippmann markings any where on it? ashamed much?

Looking at the XL it appears to be a 98 in a composite body. If it performs as well as it always has, and is even more rugged than the cast bodies, I can't see it go wrong. Imagine the color possibilities. And in a year the paint won't all be peeled off....

If you are looking for a real tippy nowdays you have to get the BT(?) series of markers. They are actually made by the founder of tippman.

dan, come on. Just hit??? An ugly truck hitting it would be an understatement. This thing was ****ing dragged by the ugly truck 20 miles at a steady 80 mph.

and yeah, this is a bad move for tippmann. With no compatibilities(i assume) and no real tourney speeds, what makes this better than the 20 something odd spyder electros out there that are about the same price?
