    tank ticking

    I just degassed my tank and now i'm hearing like ticking you get when metal is cooling but it sounds a little like glass to. is this bad?

      metal expands and contracts with temperature changes as it cools. I't comon in very hot metal, but ot really tanks. I DONOT think this can be a good thing. It could be individual strands breaking in the wrap...who knows. But this is not normal and I would get it hydroed...honestly, is your arm worth saving $20 by not hydroing?

          yes i would do that, and let the hydro place know the reason or concern you are having so it is not easily overlooked

                ok i took a really close look at it here is what i found

                see the horizontal line just above the curve of the tank?

                ya i think i'm going to re-hydro the tank

                      Yeah, I see it. Is that a a fiber broken? More damage could be done internally.

                      That sucks having a $200 investment pretty well damaged 3 years before it needs to even be considered unusable.

                        Unless damaged, and assuming hydro tests are completed when required, it won't be unusable for 13 years.

                          1. Tank made from GLOBAL COMPOSITES INTERNATIONAL,MFG.

                          DOT-E 12695...these tanks are carbon fiber wrapped, said to not have enough fiber wraps. if tank ruptures; you could have property damage, personal injury, or DEATH.

                          2. Tanks shipped by LUXFER, Riverside, California did not undergo the required AUTOFETTAGE & HYDROSTATIC TESTS.

                              I know, that's why I said "CONSIDERED unusable", because it is unusable if the test is failed.
