I never liked using a remote. While it did make the set up lighter, it created some situations which did not exactly please me. First off, it would get snagged on trees and bushes quite often. I would get stuck and would have to create a ruckus to get out. Second, my shots became less stable. With the abcense of a stock or tank against your shoulder, stability is lost. Third, it is damn hard to switch hands. Even if you just switch hands without bringing the remote to the right side, it is still strewn accross your chest and can be uncomfortable. Lastly, it can be annoying when waiting between games. Unless you have a slide check, putting your gun down can get quite annoying.

It just didn't work for me when I had it.
Hey, look at that! It's Santa!

I am going to have to do that.

Cant go wrong with the Flurry or Spec Ops vests. I own both. The Flurry is is great and I use it in the winter. The Spec Ops is better for the summertime, made with a vent material. Check them out, and you decide.
WOW, sigs. Havent seen these in a while here on AO.

            checked them out

Well I checked out those vests, but they all seem too bulky for me. I want something simple. Tank holder and 2 pods maybe 3 and 1 or 2 pockets. I rely alot on my speed, I don't shoot much.

Yup, me also. I'm not running a remote now, but have almost everything to set it up. I even have a stock that I can attach the warp to.

Ran a slinky on my Co2'ed MiniMag for over 7 years with zero troubles in the woods or speedball field. Basically, the only reason I went with on-gun tanks, was there were no belt packs large enough to handle a Flatline back then. Here's an ooold pic of me and it:

You can just make out the slinky going off the expando.

My buddy cory remotes his ion and loves it. I don't because you have no balance while shooting. I have also seen cases where people put thier gun down and walk away, you know what happens. Say bye bye halo.

Never liked the remote. Makes it difficult for me, to shoot with my left hand.

Only way to run a remote....

Ok, folks, after watching a lot of different players' gear I think I know the best way to run a remote.

First off, you have to pay attention to the valve. This is important. Most of the remotes on the market come with a simple screw-in/screw-out activation for your tanks' pin valve. What this means is that you have to degass your marker to disconnect the line. Custom Products makes an ASA valve that is supposed to go on a marker bottomline, but it works great as a remote valve, too. You can't lose the knob on this thing (important! The knob on most valves is held on with a setscrew or just pressed on. Roll over on it a few times and see what happens), it takes only one full turn to turn on or off, and when you turn it off it automatically relieves the pressure in the line. With this feature it is a simple matter to disconnect yourself from your marker if you really need to. See it here: http://store.customproducts.us/index...5&categoryID=3

Second, pay attention to your air line. If you want flexible line you need the good coiled hose like comes on the 32 Degrees remote kit (and others) but stay away from the small diameter stiff plastic microline like on the APP brand remote. The plasic lines stretch and don't return, and they start cracking and leaking fairly quickly esp. in cold weather. Another option is a simple 24" to 36" length of braided stainless line like your bottomline material. This works fairly well and if you do like some and run it down your sleeve, you can forget about tangles. I use a fairly short one with an airthrough stock and it always stays out of the way.

Third, you have to have a good solid place to carry your tank. As much as I don't like them sometimes, SpecOps has some of the best vest gear around. Their tank pouches do a good job of holding your tank solid and putting it in a good location for a remote line. They also have a leg pouch rig that I have seen used with some success, if you want to go light.

I hope this has been of some help. I've probably spent $200 or more on remote lines and related hardware in the past two years getting it right. Don't do the same.
