travel rules for tanks
The only tanks allowed on airlines are those with removable regulators.
Ever since 9/11, air travel security has gotten really strict.
Long ago before the electro scene in paintball I got to bring my CO2 tank and marker to Hawaii. But that was pre-9/11 when mags were only mech and the twin towers still stood.
If you checked somewhere on the web before you flew, you could have prevented that.
Next time you should ship it via FedEx separately - (completely empty of course) to the event, hotel, or someone you trust.
Bummer, at least now you know what to ask From Santa this X-mas.......

Triangle
Just bring it to your local airsmith.Originally posted by PumpMagThe only one with a removable reg that I know of is by SP.
At the event, have one of the guys there put it back on.

Agreed, always just ship your gear if you can. Not only do you NOT have to deal with TSA, but you can insure it for it's proper value as well.Originally posted by txaggie08SHip the tank, dont try to "get a buddy to do it". Stupid idea that will get you or someone else hurt.
nearl 5k psi is not funny to play with.

Paintball tanks are only allowed on aircraft as carry on baggage. In that case when you reach the security check point, the "inspectors" have to be able to visually see inside the tank.
If it is in your checked baggage... yeah.
BTW... not the airlines TSA. Southwest is my life, we hate TSA too.
huh new info and pics...

check this out
this happen to me when I had to fly back from Kona to SF, (my family lives in Kona and i used to for 7 years)
but check this out, this was before the statue/rule came out. I flew from SFO to KOA(kona) direct w/ my mag, spyder, tank -- reg still on, etc. vaction time, no problems
2 weeks later i had to go home. i check everything in,. they call me to the front when i was waiting to get on the plane, they told me they couldnt allow the tank on the flight, and im like wtf? i had no problem when i flew from SF to kona 2 weeks ago with everything, they were like, whoa, they messed up, they told me to take the reg off so they can look inside the tank but im like, its empty and i dont have tools, this was my vacation. they here tripping over the fact that the tank said that it "could be hazardist" disclaimer thingy. so i had to leave the tank in kona, never to see it again
anyway, i call TSA about it and they said there working on the issue, then alittle bit later, they make the statue about air reg. tanks and sort. boy i was mad at the whole situation at first but i can understand to this point of time. funny though it went totally fine from SF to Kona
oh yea, dont play paintball at volcano national park, its cursed
