I know somebody at my local field had an impulse, really nice purple sponged anno. Anyway, I asked to dryfire it..it had a really nice feel to it(this was an older blocky kind of gun, but it felt good, like a mag) and shott really fast. They seem like nice guns, and foe that price, I'd deffinitely say do it.
SP Impulse.. Thoughts?

2 of my friends have fully upped WAS vision imps. Fastest guns I have ever seen. hands down. I know how fast they were shooting (bounce to the max) and no one ever belives me so I won't say. Its just something you have to see.

They're no boxier than a PM5 or a DM4/5, just a little heavier (but not much).Originally posted by flashgordonHehe.. thanks for all the tips guys..
I have a mag, and love it to death.. Still tossing around the idea of doing the pneu-frame on it
I've just been fiending after a second marker, the candidates (in my mind) are,
Triumph eXT (for it's BE-like modability)
Any Mid to high-end electro (Not interested in the Ion's because everyone and their mother has one in my area)
Or a PPS Blazer
I didn't have my heart set on the Imp., it just seems like it'd be a nice change of pace.. besides I could resell the tank and get the gun for <$200 , spend 60 bucks on an lpr and tapeworm and be set.. i've just never shot the darn thing so don't know what i'm getting into
EDIT: All i've been hearing is it's boxy (I used a 98c for 3 years, i'll survive) and its reliability is dubious (conflicting reports).. but how does it shoot?
They shoot very well, consistency is good with the older vert MaxFlo's, kick is not too bad at all, but can be reduced by changing out hammers and bolt/pin if it bothers you. Weight isn't bad, I used to lug around an Imp with a Stainless Back BoomStick a Revy and a 68 Cu full of CO2 though. That setup weighed about 9lbs, but a good bit of that was CO2 and barrel.
Basically, if you've shot a Viking/Angel/Cyborg/Bushmaster/etc, you've shot them all. There as subtle differences, but if you've shot one open bolt stack tube ram/poppet electropneumatic marker, you'ver pretty much shot them all.
After that it really just comes down to weight, looks, and overall size, which are really just personal preference.
The only drawback of the older Impulses is the eye software for the reflective eye. It senses movement alone, and has a real hard time seeing black paint, so it can be a real bear to deal with. The WAS board and the BlackHeart board both have much better eye logic. BUT, if you're not consistently shooting over 16 bps, you don't even need the eyes anyway. An Imp will chop, but I ran blind Imps with Revys for years without worrying about chops. They gave a consistent 12-14 bps with no chops or skips.
I've got video of a Pred II Impulse shooting PSP ramp at 21 bps, and a stock vision cricket boarded Impulse with one of my vert frames shooting 18 bps (which is the stock boards upper limit) in true semi. Those are both full second duration numbers too, not shortest time between two peaks. The Imp is no slouch speed wise, it's major limiting factor is it's drive board, which can be changed out at any time with minimal fuss.Originally posted by MoeMag2 of my friends have fully upped WAS vision imps. Thanks CoolHand, that was the kind of post I was looking for.. Sounds like I might have to pick up this gun after the holidays, even if i turn around and sell it a few months down the road it should be fun.
Thanks for the 2 cents

About the reliability....I'd say that depends oin the exact parts used. If you go with mainstream upgrades (NDZ, SP voodoo, etc) then reliability is good.
Other part lines that try to pointlessly change how the gun works, tend to be more hit or miss. Avoid PMI Evil parts for the Impulse.Andy "Ydna" DuBuc

Oh for the love of God.
Derek, will you PLEASE stop poking the kids in the eye? It stirs them up and we all have to watch them melt down (along with all of the stuff you post to make them do it).
Seriously, it's like shaking a box full of bees and handing it to your buddy.
You are here by allowed to continue to stalk and/or irritate ONLY Don Miguel, and only until you get a documented audible snap out of him. After that, your mission will be complete and you can once again retire to the bat cave until Gotham needs you again.
That shouldn't take too much longer anyway, you've been riding him like a broken down pony for weeks now.
