    Impulse

OK, aside from weight(wich could be fixed with a mill(or aftermarket body), and the fact it's not the "new toy" on the market, Is there anything physicaly limiting about the desing of the imp versus something like a borg or timmy?

I just got done servicing mine, I just dont see the big difference. When i look at that, then get on ebay and start looking at parts, it makes me seriously consider upgrading my imp and not spending the 300+ to get a new gun im STILL going to want upgrades on!

Someone wnat to talk me out of it?

I think an LPR solves that problem for the most part. I do know there bad about it(I beleive the imp is were the idea of FSDO, and how to fix it, REALY took off)

My friend has/had two. With just some milling/trigger work this thing shoots just as nice as any other stacked tube rammer with the ecception of a few. As for FSDO, if you have a good board it should get rid of that fine.

I just look at guns like that PL strange thats in B/S/T, and I've played with mine so much, I think it's going to make a nice sidekick for my E-mag.

Basicaly, I'm building it for a dual role. I need a decent Backup/loaner gun(lots of friends with the "no gun, want to play" syndrome), and I need something a tad easier on air for when we play away from fields(wich happens alot). I have a scuba tank now, but if seveal folks are using it....well, I need something that doesnt use as much gas and will shoot veruy deep into the tank.

Get a Blackheart board, tapeworm for FSDO, and you are done. You do not even need an LPR. All the other add ons arent worth the time or money.
Great marker. Glad i did not get rid of mine.

I think, if what logic's store says is right, he still has vert frames.

If so, one of them is mine!!!!! That was one thing making me waffle on not trying to get something else, i realy wanted a gun with an IR3 style frame.

Honestly i might be able to get the lpr cheaper than the tapeworm, but ill grab whatever i can get. The blacheart board im seeing says it works in ions as well? is that correct? This imp is vision, will I need to look into a clean body for BB eyes to make it work?

If you imp is vision ready then you are good to go. Just drop it in. They have blackheart boards for Imps, Ions and Shockers.

well its another stacked tube electro pneumatic so it fits in a very large category.

my friend had a strange factory impulse (i think it was a strage factory), and he got it to run at 45 psi at the valve. it shot well.

but i have seen a lot of problems with them. ive seen the hammer/ram (dont know what the piece is called but its the long piece that is a cylinder that has larger rings/cylinders on it) got snaped clean in half during cycling. the triggers bounce verry easily (making it harder to be tourney leagle). they have bad first shot drop off.

the impulse wont cycle as fast or as efficently as a timmy/borg/angle just be casue of the size and weight of the reciprocating mass.

you coudl always sell you imp and then buy a used angel/timmy/etc and have better preformance IMHO

I'm trying to get away from having to sell the gun, just to spend all the cash to get another one, then still not have the upgrades I want(wich im not going to be able to get for what this one will sell for + what i have.). I think the imp will do, especialy if i can find upgrades used cheaply for it.

with used guns you can usually get the gun with a lot if not all the upgrades you would want.

from seeing my team mates go through literaly all of the big name gun types on the market i would say angel, timmies, aka guns, borgs are all much better guns and you can get some of them for pretty cheap used while still being in great condition.

32* Imps air passages weren't milled as large as the "stock" ones, so there were some starvation problems at high ROF. I have heard that some of the really early stock bodies had this same problem. With the addition of a good LPR it takes care of most of the common problems with the marker, including FSDO, and the bolt stick...also eliminated with a tapeworm. I am not completly sure, but I think the WAS board has a dwell fix for the FSDO. I can't remember what they call it.

There are lots of parts, a great deal of which do nothing, and some which actually cause problems. CoolHand knows quite a bit about them. I think YDNA has an info and tech forum dedicated to them.

Performance wise they are fully capable of keeping up with any legal shooting electro-pneumatic. If you like it and are comfortable shooting it, why would you want anything else?
