Do you even read your own crap? At least some of Triangle's posts were worthwhile. Yours are useless and stupid.

        desenting opinion

Don't take this as a "funbash"...because if you like pump play and it can allow you to play more often, more power to ya.

But, let me take the other side for a moment.

My worst day of paintball play ever that was not the result of malfunctioning equipment ( ), was last summer.

It was outlaw play and I planned on playing all day with only 1000 rounds so I thought I'd play pump to conserve paint.

In the first game, I took up a nice position in a little ditch and waited for the enemy to happen upon me. Well, along comes an opposing player walking up behind me and he had no idea I was there...so I turn and fire!! Nothing happens...forgot to pump a ball into the chamber So he lights me up.

In the second game, I decide to take the high ground and maybe pick off some opposing players as they attack my team below. Well, two of their players also walk up the ridge (high ground) and stop. One of them thinks he sees me and drops down. The other guy doesn't see me and continues walking towards me looking around. I fire 3 rounds at him in succession and he drops. Shortly thereafter, I receive about 50-60 rounds in my direction, with about 6 of them hitting my torso and another 21 hitting my leg. So I'm out.

3rd game...I hunker down in some tall grass...see a couple opposing players walking my direction...I wait until they are within 25 feet...start to fire!! As they are getting fired at, they start returning fire in retreat...they hit me about 6 times as I fire my 4th ball.

So now I'm mad. Three games, 3 deaths, no kills. Of matter of fact, I'd only fired less than 12 shots. So now I make sure that if I'm going to fire...I'm going to be sure to hit them...because once my position is given away, I'm dead in the water. So I spend game 4 crawling around in brush...only moving when a car or motorcycle would drive by so not to make too much noise. I get all the way behind the enemy position...start to move up on them...then they charge!! Away from me. My team kills the last of them as I come crawling out from a mixture of brush and barbed wire.

And to end the day on a great note...in the final game, I got lost and wandered the woods for an hour and a half trying to find my way back to the place we were playing at. When I got back, the other team was still looking for me...and proceeded to shoot me as I waved to them (to let them know that I was allright).

Yeah, pump play is awesome. I spent all day trying not to give away my position because as soon as I do I get shelled by overwhelming firepower. I got like zero kills...and had no fun. As a plus, I used less than 15 rounds. Whoopdee Doo! I could sit home and watch TV and throw 15 rounds in the toilet and have more fun. Don't get me wrong...I hate the progression of the game to ROF and electros...but the simple fact is that as long as that's the way it is, pumps will be nothing more than a novelty to players without the finances to buy boatloads of paint.

        Just my opinion.

LOL .... Oh man ... Yeah I'll admit when I started I had days like that. I think the problem you had was that you were trying to hard to shoot a lot of paint at your targets ...

Use the force!!!! Guide that first ball to your target and then they'll waste time looking for you cause it's almost impossible to find someone when you're well hidden. You should be able to pick one or two off before the rest of them come your way.

And even then in the past, the rest of the unit usually uses to much caution for their own good cause they think you're a semi who's holding back on fire. There have been numerious times where I've held of 5 to 10 guys with a pump.

The Art of War : Appear Strong when weak ... Appear Weak when Strong.

And you have to laugh when you hold these guys up and might even take a few out when they realize you have a pump ... I laugh so hard when I hear "He's got a pump, RUSH HIM!!!"

If all you need is a sear assy ... i'd almost be willing to bet that someone here has a spare they can part with ... check the pay it foward thread ... it never hurts to ask ...

forget HPA get a 9oz ... that should last a couple of days if you play with limited paint ...

Then again you could sell your stuff and get a decent tracer or maverick ...

The same thing is happening to me. I can't get any eliminations. The reason I am sticking to pump play is that in the long run I will be a better player. Also, I didn't spend $400 on my awesome Phantom set-up not to use it.

eh not like i would have been shooting 20BPS with the stick feed on there ...

but i think that was a mock up photo ... i actually used a minimag valve with the stick feed ...

In fact i only used the x valve once ... i got it about the time i decided to play with limited paint so i sold it to pay bills ... don't get me wrong ... cool valve I just didn't need it ..

Ouch, I'm sorry you had a rough day. I've played pump three times now, and loved it every time, even including the first time(woodsball) where I tripped and tore up my hands. For speedball, I dunno. I haven't really noticed a lack of ability to do anything except keeping people's heads down to move. Instead, I need to wait until they're not concentrating on me, then move up until I've got a shot on them. Sometimes I can do it, sometimes I can't. Snapping isn't really all that much harder. I've got to "snap" more, instead of posting, but It's doable.

It's definately a handicap, but since I play exclusively "rec" paintball, I kinda needed another challenge.

And to address your day one more time. I notice I get shot out quite a bit more when I play pump, but it doesn't get me down. There's always the "excuse" that I'm using a pump, and so at a natural disadvantage. I really don't measure the success of a day's play on the number of people I shoot, but on how much quality play I get. For instance, your fourth game would make a terrific story, I would have fun with that. Playing woodsball with a pump is hard. I only had one game where I shot someone, the rest of them I either got shot out, or never hit anyone, but it was still fun going out there and trying to get them.

I'd say the #1 reason I like pump is that it lets me play every weekend now, instead of every 2-3 weeks like before. The #2 reason is because it gives me a new challenge, and I don't feel bad about playing less experienced players. They've got firepower, I've got more experience, it kinda balances out. I worry less about who I play, and more about how I play. #3 might be because it's cool getting the recognition of being the only pumper on the field and still holding your own, I'm not sure, but that's definately a good feeling.
you know you play this game too much when the neighbors stop fixing their broken windows...
                          :shooting: :cuss:

                            I love playing pump.
I have been playing with my PGP for 6 months straight now and I have took it to games such as walk-ons, Invasion of Normandy and Air Assault open play.
I pay 10 bucks for entry to Air Assault, and I bought a pod of paint off of some guy for 5 bucks and that lasted me 2 times and I still have a few leftovers.

Aslan, it sounds like you just had a bad day, if you ever get around to trying it again I have a feeling you might like it.

Earlier that year I was playing in this abandoned building and ran out of HPA so I had to switch from my Mag to my Spyder. But the Spyder had a little leak around the macroline so I said "sc#ew it" and grabbed the Trracer. This building had two levels and I looked up through a hole in the floor and saw the head of a player I knew was on the other team.

I fired one shot and it hit the edge of the hole in the floor. I fired the second shot, it pegged him right in the melon. Awesome shot. What made it better was he started yelling at his team for shooting him because he had no idea where it came from.

Now, here's where the story takes a turn. These guys played this rule where you have to get hit 3 times before you're dead. For a pump player, this is a nightmare. Well, I lined up...took another shot through the hole in the floor...pow...hit him right in the facemask! It was awesome! Except noe, he figured out it wasn't his team and that I was shooting at him from below.

As I stand there trying to see where he went to...he fired about 15 rounds through the hole lighting me up. Stupid 3 kill rule! I would have felt like a God if I had eliminated that blow hard with his "Mega A-5" using my little Trracer. Instead, all I got was a funny story and some nice size welts on my chest.

I'll probably play pump again...just not until I'm running low on paint and desperate to play.

I got to play with my phantom for the first time this weekend. It was awesome although I would definatily get the ring kit for the barrel. Had a few roll out on me. I owned a kit with and ego though.
