In agreement with Pneumagger's sentiments, I'm a little young to have known you personally or heard your name in paintball circles (well, maybe not so much young as "relatively new" to the paintball scene).

But as so many have already said, thanks for being the influence you were to paintball to make the game we love what it is today. And if TK speaks of you so highly, that's by no means a little accomplishment.

Thank you, take care, and keep fighting.

        Sam,
I don't really know what to say but thank you. You help nurture the sport I love, for that I am forever grateful. I'm praying for you Sam so are a lot of other people. Again, thank you for all you've done, from the bottom of EVERYONES heart.
        You're my hero!

          Sam,

You are in my thoughts and prayers as well as those of the people I speak to often from the older days of ballin.

            sam,
I wasn't here for the early days of paintball and I wish I had been so that I could experience the growth of it from a backyard sport to an international tournament of skill and speed. I only know what Ive been told about you and it sounds like to me you are the kind of person I want to be.You gave your life for the advancement of paintball and all its players. Youve given everything you had for it and now that you may be at the end there is little hope for what the world will bring us. I'm not really on the up and up on the tournament scene but I play the way it was started. 10 guys running through the woods all aiming for one thing,Glory . Fight till the end because you will never be forgotten

              Mr. Caldwell,

I have never met you, or have never heard about you until this thread was created. Please forgive my ignorance as I have only been playing paintball for about two years. Having seen the great amount of respect that Tom Kaye and others on AO have for you really means something. Those that know you were shocked to hear about your diagnosis.

However, I wish to thank you for your motivation and your vision for the sport of paintball. We are in your debt for helping paintball go from a seedling to a firmly rooted tree. I salute you along with the other pioneers of this sport that advance paintball to the next level.

I hope the future is much kinder to you. Remember, we at AO will always have you in our thoughts and prayers

              Best wishes,

              Nathan Kinnaird

Sam, I had never met you, but Tom's words say you are the same sort of organizer I remember fondly from the days when I did play tournaments (and enjoyed them). Plan it out, run the games, pay attention to what could be done to make the system better - men like you put in a lot of work to benefit the players and were not in it for the money. You have my respect and best wishes.

So, this is basically one of the men that brought paintball into the more mainstream sport it is today?

-Sorry, but i haven't been around long enough to know all of the famous faces in our sport.

                            Thank you

                            Sam,

I was just a kid playing in the backwoods while you were securing paintball's future through your dedication and hard work. I remember reading the magazines and thinking how incredible it was that "grown ups" were forging ahead and creating not just a new game but a new "sports culture" of sorts.

                            Thank you and God bless!

                            Sincerely,

                            Chris "Homer" Goldbecker

Like many of the other's here, I'm a little too young to have been playing when you were busy making a difference in the sport, but I certainly appreciate what you helped make of it, and I thank you for it. Best wishes.
