this brings up an interesting question, the older stainess steel Automag bodies and valves are of a hardy enough material to take the current.... so what stops someone with a good stock of bodies from having a run done?

i mean.... really, an older PF mag with classic valve would look pretty sweet with that treatment

Or any palmer's or sheridans. Zippo lighters are brass.

Nothing is really stoping anyone. The process of making steel have that finish isnt a very uncommon thing. Its just not common in paintball since aluminum is the metal of choice.

time to call finishing shops around me....

if i get lucky, i'll be able to buy a stainless steel body/barrel/ valve combo and get that finish applied...

I can do that finish on any marker for half that price.

                Seriously.

BTW, the material doesn't matter. It get's nickel/chromed regardless. Alu is no problem.

Seriously? The ninja leads me to believe it's some sort of joke that I'm not in on....

And are there any issues throwing off tolerances? It seems like a layer of chrome and whatever the shiny stuff is would be pretty thick.

No , seriously as in one at a time is quite costly. Probably $1K a marker. Tolerances are not too bad. Not worse then a couple re-annos would do to it.

And on something like a mag body...you could just sand barrel and the little part of the valve down to fit with no problem...how is your success rate fireblade? OT: Also, did you post on the PCOG a while ago?

Don't think you want to be doing that.

Success is same as for anno.

it looks great but how durable is this process? chroming eventually flakes away after some hard play. does this thing need any special material for cleaning

I have an Eclipse cocker that has the Aurora. It's chipped/flake pretty bad on the ASA, but then that area has alot more curvature than the rest of the gun body.

The durability is in the prep , set up and application. The finish itself is diamond tough , same finish used on various cutlery and jet engine parts for ~10 years now.

Fireblade, did you address the success rate question? I may have read over it. After "I can do that finish on any marker for half that price.", my eyes started bleeding.

We should get a run together. I would absolutely love to get the eye covers, feedneck collar, Ultralite back, bolt cap, LPR cap, ASA and reg housing on my DM6 aurora-ized... I can imagine that being sexy as all hell.

Anyways... woudl you take a classic mag as payment?

EDIT: Ok, wiped the blood from my eyes and saw "Success is same as for anno.". So it's like a 99% thing, cause I haven't seen many botched anodizing jobs. Well, not horribly botched.
