I had an amusing conversation today with somebody at the paintball shop. A guy, who I guess was in his 20's, was showing off his DM6 when I brought my MiniTac Pro in to get the tank filled. He was firing the marker on ramping, but claiming he could really rip just walking it.
This interested me, because I have now seen two different DMs (one a 06, the other an 05 I think) that had shootdown problems. One did it at 18 bps, the other at 20 bps. When I asked what sort of bps he could attain, he claimed "unlimited" with the board he had in it.
Unfortunately, I had some small doubts about that. I asked him what he could actually fire over a chrono, with paint. He said, "This board can go up to unlimited." and proceeded to try and show me in the manual. I decided to press on, asking him what he had actually fired, over a chrono, with paint.
"45 bps." Okay, I have a response, "I don't believe you. The most I have ever seen was 34 bps, using a Q-Loader and a special air supply, on an Automag like this one." (I held up the MiniTac Pro.)
Per two different chronos, my x-valved marker can do 22 bps (without shootdown) if I am providing it 1200 psi. Since that seems high from what I have seen, I am thinking that recording and doing a sound analysis would be a good idea to verify. Also, I have hit 24 bps once over chrono, but do not trust that, because I sometimes get a chuff when firing at the 22 bps that seems to be my max. Despite the claims, at 22 bps, my Vlocity sometimes cannot keep up with the marker and I get a chuff. I verified this with both Vlocity loaders I own, with a brand new set of Energizers in the one.
Has anyone else run into an amusing claim? Also, have others seen what I have with their loader?
