You were responsible for josh's borg? very nice work that was.
I would say $250 tops - unless you plan on earning a living or it takes forever. No offense, but DC has a mighy fine reputation, and for $50 more I know I'd trust my gear to them.

I paid way below DC's price to have my borg milled by Tarantula, and he had to draw all the cads, etc.

thanks. and as I said, I'm not DC. I'm a high school robotics geek with free time

How much did you pay to have your borg milled by Tarantula, and do you have pictures?

DC does awesome work, I have one of his Vikes, but that dosent mean there isnt room for competition! You are in here showing your work and disclosing your skill level. Which is more than I can say for some other people offering milling! (cough **Xmagterror ** cough.)

I've seen DC's and Tarantula's work, I like the lines on the DC more to be honest. His work is clean and from a finishing side of things done properly. Tarantula's wasn't far behind, just didnt have the same design style I guess would be the term. Yours still has some work to go on it looking at the top pic, I would say you should be around 3-3.5 hrs on that which should fetch you 200-230 range in price. (thats at 65.00 an hr for machine/prep work.)

i think josh would kill me if i charged $65/hour. i haven't been keeping track, but the price would certainly be over $200 by now. he's getting a break because he's a friend, i'm a high school student, and i'm probably not the most efficient worker anyway.

I gotta get back in business!
250$ for basically just smoothing a body down to a bare tube?
How long did that take? I could get it to look like that in about 3 hours.
And when I asked for 500$ for 40 hours of work I was told that I was a moron!
No offense, and I'm not saying you did a bad job or anything, but that's a 100$ job, tops.

Eeeeeeeasy on the guy killer. Youre a pro, hes just looking for a little cc.

After seeing some of the other stuff you have done I would love to see a body that Maghog spent 40 hours working on

I didn't keep track of how long it took. maybe 2 hours milling, and then... far too long smoothing it down. i'm not the best judge of time. and from the start i was thinking $100 as the lower end estimate.

actually, I was looking forward to having access to a CNC mill in college, which would let me make more complex designs with far better precision. but, it turns out my college charges $10/hour to use their machine shop... thats the problem with going to a research oriented college. Then again, the college is also known to give master keys to a lot of the students, so maybe if i get on a professor's good side...

Whatever you do Slade, don't give up. Your work is clean and well done. Perfecting your technique takes time and and sticktoittiveness. By no means did I want to undermine your efforts, I was just amazed to see what kind of quotes you got for a job that is a basic stripping of a receiver.

well, actually, what i do depends completely on college. I was planning to mill a few things and use a CNC mill on my own cyborg, but it looks like i wont have much free time, and at $10/hour i'm not sure if i would want to anyway. If i had gone to any of my backups, like WPI, i would have lived in the machine shop.
