I am supposed to get the frames first of next week. I will mail out raw frames within a few days of getting them. I will send frames to be anno'd at the same time. I will update you all again on Moday.Comment

Got the frames in today. I don't have any pics to add as the ones already posted pretty much say it all. They feel great and look great. I will be getting them ready to go and shipping by the weekend. I started a new today and my hours are not conducive to shipping multiple times so I need you all to get payment in (if you haven't already) so I can get these all out to everyone. I will ship on Friday and once again after I have received the last of payments.
I warned you all that we needed a minimum to make a run for anodizing. We only have 30 people left on the list that want their frames anodized with about 8 of those wanting dust. I am waiting for a new quote from a different anodizer. Gruntbull has a minimum of 40 frames for the prices quoted me and we are no longer realistically within reach of that. So here is the deal. I imagine that even the last quote will be too expensive to make it worth our while to get the frames anodized. I am therefore strongly considering canceling the ano, refunding everyone their $ for anodizing and shipping all the frames out raw. IF I do send out some frames for anodizing it will most likely cost more to have it done due to the smaller quantity.
Another idea would be to consider a duracoat finish however it would not match anodizing. I can vouch for the durability and good looks but not for the color matching. This finish would also take more than the 2 weeks turn around I was hoping for with anodizing.
Any suggestions? If you want me to try another anodizer please pm me a name and a phone #.
For those of you that ordered raw and have received a confirmed payment you can expect a shipping notice from Paypal sometime after Friday (I don't know how Labor day will affect the shipping).
Also unless I was told you wanted your frame UNASSEMBLED you will be getting it all put together. Please email me right away if you don't want yours put together (better if you are getting it anodized).
Thanks, MatComment

I've dealt with A+ Ano before and had decent luck. The did about an 85% job overall (most jobs were good, but the screwed the pooch a time or two as well), which was quite high on my ano shop scale.
Slightly lower was Dirt Products, call them about a 65%. Their sample batch was stellar looking, but it took them nearly three (3) MONTHS to get my parts back to me. They said they sat them on a shelf and forgot about them. Not confidence inspiring, but the ano was top notch.
FBM, MAX Ano, Nico, Avtec, and Metco were all very low on the scale (<20%). Max had parts of mine for many months, then shipped most of the batch back raw. I say most, because some of the batch was just missing. Very bad deal there.
FBM was expensive, took forever, hard to work with, and did a poor job in the end.
Nico Et Al did decent work, but their ano was so thick it made things not operate correctly anymore. Normal ano is about 0.0005" thick, but theirs was at least three times that. I have no idea how they did it with a type II sulfuric bath, but they did. It was a hell for stout layer, but it was just too damned thick, triggers didn't fit anymore, screws wouldn't go into holes, etc. When you run tight tolerances, you can't spare better than half your band to the surface finish. They also did not want to do any of the surface prep. They took the first batch, but sent half of it back anodized, and the other half raw. Said they didn't want to polish them anymore. The only upside was that they didn't charge me for the trouble. All the others, except for Dirt Products, I paid up front, and then got hosed, so be very careful.
Ano is a very hit n miss deal in the PB industry, that is for sure and for certain.
You might also want to check with Rainman over on McCarter Brown. He does very nice ano (I've not used him myself however), and I hear his prices are reasonable. No idea on turn around time though.
Another option might be to find someone to do the finish work and then just have Gruntbull run them through the tanks as the get them. I know the last time I talked with them, a lot of their price was surface prep.
Hope you guys enjoy them.

I just got off the phone with AGD. They are aware of the order (and going to shoot me if I ask again) and working on it. They won't be in for some time. Even AGD is short what they need for their own stuff so you know they aren't holding out on us. The supplier is just slow on getting them out.Originally posted by WarwitchAny word on the safety situation?Comment

I have been waiting for the outcome of the anodizing issue before I send the payment. This way we don't have to deal with a refund if that should happen. Because I wanted an ano'd frame, I don't know what the total is if we have to settle for a raw frame. can you give the total final payment for a raw frame with the safety installed.
Thanks!!......You know you want one!!Comment

For raw the payment info is as follows:
Balance due of: 75$ for raw frame WITH safety assembly + 9.15$ for priority shipping with insurance and delivery confirmation = 84.15$ Please add .30 cents plus 3% if paying with paypal (84.15 +.30 + 3%= 86.98$).
Or WITHOUT a safety: balance due of 69$ + 9.15$ for priority shipping with insurance and delivery confirmation = 78.15$ if paying with paypal (78.15 +.30 + 3%= 80.80$).
I will keep you all posted on the ano issue. Right now it still looks like it will be canceled.Comment
