Makes things easier for you to know. that takes away the confusion and chaos. Thats half the fun right there gone. HUDs are just a wast of money unless you're doing a scenario and you need all that info because you are a commander. Not every average rec baller or pro baller should have one. I think were we are right now is perfect for paintball. Electronics detract from the game. Nowadays your chances of making it far without an electronic gun and a walkable trigger is very slim. Its no longer about practice that speed aiming. Its about point in that general direction and Spray and Pray as you walk 20 balls out in less than a second. It could just be me but i think they should make a E-pump where whenever you pump it it automaticaly fires as long as this switch in the Eframe is on. It would be "walking" for pump players! thats an advancment!

A Palmer's pump with the 'pneumatic pump assist' and an autotrigger and you have a pump you have to moe .5 mm.

unfortunately, PAs are banned from most pump tourneys, or else everyone would just be using SHOs

Wow, this thread is still here?

I'm actually working on a rather special paintball HUD. I'm having a problem right now actually fitting the damn thing into the goggles... I might need a pair with more internal room, like... V-Force Morphs? Either that, or it's gonna have to ride outside the goggles, which is going to really suck for hits.

Ironically, I have a much more low-tech idea for paintball advancements... Games.

Right now, paintball gameplay is enough to give any player burnout. We should mix it up a little.

            A couple of ideas...

First off... larger fields for these airball styles. Say, fields so long that you cannot hit a player off the break from the other side. Something that puts stealth and movement back into the game.

There are very few multi-level game fields. I actually talked to some guys working on my home field who sound like they are building a fort with two levels. That sounded kind of interesting. Obviously there are safety risks involved because I can imagine people falling off stuff, but then again, people stumble and do all sorts of crazy stuff in recball in the woods anyways. From recball, putting someone up in a tower/fort really changes certain dynamics of games. Ooh... that just gave me another idea.

The "hold on buddy, where do you think you're going with that pack?" game. Everybody steps onto the field with a hopper. There are small caches of pods with paint lining the middle of the field. Whoever pushes up and grabs them first gets the bounty. Or... how about some sort of tower or at least elevated platform in the middle of the field. whoever gets to tower first can get a higher ground advantage.

And uh, still on the field kick, why not have actual tunnels (more like halls) on the side of the field that run the length of the field. You can choose to leave someone to defend the tunnel, or take the chance that the other team won't use it, or will be too slow getting through it. Kind of like counter-strike action where you have multiple entry points.

I think pumps should be able to chrono in at higher FPS. It's not like you're going to get miserably overshot by a pump player. The 300fps number is a roughly made up number, from what I understand, somewhere around the speed necessary to break skin with a paintball or something. Maybe chrono the semi's at 280, and pumps at 320. I think this would make playing with a pump much more... entertaining.

The field where I play usually just runs elimination or some sort of defend-the-fort-or-crack-dealer situation. It's a little annoying. Flag games turn into elimination usually anyways, so those aren't really cutting it.

              FLAG BALLL!!!

Each team has a flag and they get points by going past checkpoints! Once a team gets to the other side the teams switch sides and start again! Sound familiar? lol

Everyone starts with just a pod full of paint in there hopper. only way to get out is to be shot. If you can tag the other person, theyre out and they put there paint in the ground in a pod for anyone to get. The problem with leaving pods full of paint on the field is Who's gonna put them there? whos paint is it? fields not gonna drop that much money for paint and players arent gonna give Field Paint away to possibly someone else. Its not cheap.

Heh well, I don't know any field that gives away paint, so that paint HAS to come from somewhere. Maybe do it like poker style... oh man that's an interesting idea. Everyone fills up their own hopper, and ante's up one pod of paint; maybe make it a smaller 100 round pod. Those pods are put along the center.

Winning team gets to divvy up the paint left over if there is any. The way some of you brag about how much you shoot, losing a 100-round pod for a nice game of hopperball isn't going to kill you.

As far as getting tagged and dumping your paint... nah forget that stuff. Just go with the paint in the middle.

I'm going to revert back to the HUD thing for a sec. I saw on the discovery channel where this guy was wearing something on the outside of a pair of glasses. It was no bigger than a small LED, but what it did was flash information into the eye. It wasn't sustained, but it was just enough to register in the brain, almost like how subliminal messages work. It also learned as the guy wore it. He met one person, then a few days later he met that person again but couldn't remember his name. This device he was wearing remembered that person's name and subliminally transmitted it to the wearer.

Granted, it was attached to glasses, so there would have to be some way to transmit the data to another surface, but imagine having something subliminally tell you when your hopper's almost empty or maybe tell you when your teammates get out without taking too much attention away.

Another thing I was thinking of, what about using the OLCD, but only using half the lens, that way no matter how much contrast and brightness you have, you'll still at least have 50% visibility, or even putting all of it on only 1/3 of the lens.

And on the hit recognition paintball clothes, they have something like that in fencing, only bad thing there is you have to be on the strip and have a wire hanging off the back. But I'm sure they can do some sort of pressure recognition some how.

Oh well, just throwing out ideas. Right now I'm just hoping the sport will grow more and get more TV time.

For guns - smaller, lighter parts. The smaller you can make the parts of a gun the better.

A big improvent that needs to be looked at is trigger performance. Triggers that are easier to pull will increase rate of fire. I'm not just talking about pull length and weight, but shape, travel, reactive (without bounce ) I would love to see these improvents in mech triggers... (imagine a mech gun that had to worry about trigger bounce!!)

                      anything that reduces player profile.

smaller profile masks, with better anti-fog..

a nice innovation would be putting small transmitters inside paintballs, why? because when paintball is broadcasted it is often hard to see the stream of paint, so paintball could take a tip from hockey and make the paintballs light up on the tv

Was that really done with a transmitter in the puck? Seems to me that you could do it just by having the balls fluoresce under UV or IR and have image processing magnify the balls.

Cheaper paintballs. And Electro paintball pistols. Nothing like unloading a clip into an unsuspecting player in the woods. Cheaper parts
