But the FN303 round isn't getting it's spin from the barrel, it gets it from the fins. That is if ther is any spin at all. The benefit of the fins is reallty the elimination of random vortex shedding.

Manike's FN303 projectile was a perfect copy but machined from nylon. So it was pretty close to paintball weight.

Other spin stabilized rounds don't have to have extra weight payload in front beacause they're not naturally back heavy.

      I'm sure it spins.

Manikes round is not exactly the same as the FN303 (it's lighter), therefore it may need a different spin rate.

The weight distribution in Manike's round would be the same as a lead round of the same shape. And that shape has been spin stabilized.

they would be more round and more consistantly made im sure

i am against ramping boards and our field is semi auto and consider it cheating, we have this deal with the refs at our field, we practically work there, where if we catch someone wiping, we can push them out of the bunker

just a little nudge so they get lit up

        only happened once though hehe

          Bite the Bullet ?

Has anyone thought of using a conical, "bullet" shaped round , possibly with fins or a sabot ?
Of course these would't work with a typical hopper. They would have to be fed via a spring fed "clip" mounted at a right angle to the body or possibly via a "shotgun" style parellel feed. I don't know anything about the Q so I can't say anything about those possibilities. What about a feed that was truly "shotgun" style in which you had a pump marker with a parellel feed, and everytime you pumped it it would also ease the next round into the chamber.
          Just a thought.

you know, these alternately shaped paintball ideas might not be a bad idea for stock class play... feeding wouldnt be a problem...

The happy non hooker golf ball used a stripe of dimples around the equator of the ball. The smooth areas on the side prevented anyone from slicing the ball. I wonder if this could be applied to paintballs. I wonder, though, if you would have to orient the ball in the marker so the smooth sides were on the left and right. I'm sure the smooth sides have to be on at the 3 and 9 oclock for it to fly straight.

How do you think dimples could be put on a paintball without weakening it so this could be tried?
