I'm going to get BETA 1.6 up and running tonight hopefully. The only other problem is that if you cycle all the way through any of the incramenting menus it resets the whole memory and not just that one value. For Example if you have your ROF set to 20 and want to set it back to 15 when the value goes from 31 to 8 it will reset all the values to default. For now a work aroud would be just set the menus to what you want without going over what you want. I had no time to even reply to emails last night but if I don't get it fixed tonight I will send out BETA 1.5 to all the people who ask.

I will look at the Installation instructions again and make sure I have it right. There is also a possibility that some gun's software is locked and in that case you will not be able to read(save) your old software.

The instructions in the manual are only for loading BETA 1.6, to load BETA 1.5 it is a little bit different, after you've saved your current software you have to browse to the Flash then program it in, then browse to the EEPROM and program it in. BETA 1.6 only requires you to program the Flash.

As for the jumper read the section in the manual about the Hardware setup and the Quick Jumper. It's function is to provide a tournament lock.

Curious, Will your new USB programmer be able to backup, flash beta1.5 and program the EEPROM just like the old serial interface board?

I still have 1.6 on. I am out of air for a couple of more days so I havent been able to do anything with the guns. If 1.7 isnt ready by the weekend when I go to play I will flash them back to 1.5.

            BTW,

Please post what the maximum ROF you can get the gun to reliably cycle at with air. Also put your input pressure and the age of the marker. If the gun is 5 years old, but only has 2 cases of paint through it, please note that. Im curious to see if there are any major variations between the different guns.

            So far

            Xmag - (pre-overhaul)
            max ROF 17 bps.
            850psi input
            3yo approx 200k shots
            DWELL 15
            FIX10

            (post-overhaul - TBD)

            Etac -
max rof 17 bps (sometimes 18)
            850 psi input
            1 yo approx 7,000 shots
            DWELL 15
            FIX12

One other thing, if anyone has removed their trigger rod, or would be willing to, please post any differences in the way the gun acts. I noticed that sometimes my trigger rod would bounce off the trigger (simulation the FA effect). I was at first mistaking it for software bounce until I realized what was going on. I shortened it to where I can still fire in M if I need to, yet its out of the way when shooting in E.

Im also wondering if removing the trigger rod will decrease the weight of the sear assembly enough to effect its speed.

Programmer Light Stays Red - Can't Connect to the board

Installed the drivers fine, installed the software fine. The light stays red on the programmer. When I open AVR Studio and try to see if there's a connection, it keeps going back to the connect menu. The device shows up in device manager as well. Tried two laptops and two usb cables. No difference.

This Programmer is different from any of the previous ones in how it connects to the device. You must use the directions in the user guide rev0.5. You don't click the connect button anymore, and there is no connect menu. Follow the directions carefully and if you're doing it right, it will automatically find the device . If not it will give an error message saying that no compatible device can be found.

Looks like I have it figured out, I was able to backup the current firmware. I just need the software now.

                      My settings

Big Evil: You saw all of my settings in the thread above as I wrote per test. Here is the info you are looking for; My X-MAG is 3-4 years old, about 25 cases through it not counting dry firing, had to replace my ACE Board in MAY 2003 with no problems since, input pressure is in the posts.

To verify I have had my X-MAG up to 20 BPS with ACE on, Warp Feed - HALO Fed; 40-55 rnds string with no hicups.

I am currently testing everything in ROF 18 with the input pressure of 985 PSI.

Hope this helps. more to come.........

Yes very much. Also, what type of tank/reg are you using?

                        Thanks

                            On/Off pin problems, etc....

I put a different reg pin and plunger/sear from the etac and the sticking issue went away. I will experiment more to see if it was the plunger or reg pins fault. I will note that even though the old plunger seemed to move freely, the new one moves much much easier and free.

I am really looking forward to diving into this ROF issue. If it is indeed tank pressure, then I will be disapointed since that means when the input level drops under (Say 1k psi) the gun will not function properly at the higher ROF.

It also goes to show that even though the AGD 3.2 software went up to 20 bps, that no one is coming even close to that in semi.

I also am wondering what surprises are instore for the guys who get their emag predator boards. It is also curious how anyone with a pred2 or pred morlock hasnt had these issues, or at least anyone that we know of. I wonder if it is just the fact that there are so few of those guns out there that we never hear about any problem.
Sorry I should have posted something sooner. I had a predator 2 board dropped in on my E-Tac and a Red X-Mag. I've had no hardware problems to speak of with the E-Tac, but a few months ago the Red X-Mag was having similar problems, where the solenoid would click when in safety, but when the safety was disengaged it would only fire a short string then stick. The solenoid was still clicking like it would if the safety was engaged. I would have to fire in mech before it would fire again. It progressively got worse where it wouldn't cycle most of the time. I sent it in to AGD and Roman could only come up with one solution, which was to drop in a ULT in place of the original on/off assembly. It cleared it up and I haven't had any issues since. He said it was strange because it shouldn't have worked, which is why they don't recommend putting one into an X or E-mag. In this case it did.

I recently installed the X-Mod on to a black X and chrome E-Chord that I have still with stock boards installed. I flashed them with the new XMod 1.6 and they both started having cycling problems after a few strings into it. At first I was baffled, but I remembered the issue with the Red X and swapped out the on/off with the ULT and it immediately cleared up the problem on my E-Chord, but not with my black X. There was still a couple things going on. Because of the rapid firing I started to get a leaked down my powertube, so I moved down one size on my LVL X which fixed that issue. It was cycling now, but there was still a little inconsistency, so I turned up my velocity which seemed to help. I didn't have a chrono on hand unfortunately. I also noticed that I've been able to run my tank at 700psi for some time now, but I turned it up to 850psi and now everything seems fine. I'm going to do more tests and if there are any more inconsistencies that pop up I'll raise the dwell a little and see. If I find out anything new, I'll keep everyone posted.

Roman, an AGD employee replaced your on/off with a ULT INSTEAD od changing the noid and plunger? OMG.

In my case with teh X sticking, it seemed that the plunger wouldnt move as freely as a new one. I tried the old plunger in my much newer E-tac, and it worked no problems. I since changed the noid, plunger and sear on the Xmag. It seems to be clicking with much more gusto now. I am out fo air until the scuba shop gets their compressor back up, which should be tonight. SO I have to wait a bit to see how it is with air.

Im also hearing that the predators will work at a higher ROF than the Xmod in more guns. I am very curious about this. I wonder if the board itself works differently than the stock ones, because the software cannot be all that different in how it works.

The noid and plunger should be more worn out on my E-Tac since it is my main marker. The other mags has seen very little trigger time in comparison. The funny thing is that the E-Tac didn't require any modifications and hasn't experienced any of these issues. (crossing fingers) I don't want to jinx myself.

Yes, with the predator board it is able to cycle a lot faster. It can cycle as fast as your loader can feed it. I have it capped at 18bps with eyes off. I haven't had any overheating issues. My E-Tac is still going pretty strong and I've shot tons of rounds through it in the past year. I don't have a counter anymore, so i couldn't really tell you what that exact number is, but it's a lot.
