ITT: Cloverfield, 1-18-08, Slusho. . . . anyone?

So besides being a decently cool movie, Transformers also brought us the too-short trailer of the new JJ Abrams secret project: 1-18-08, or Cloverfield, or Slusho, or whatever else it might be called.

Any theories on this anyone? I'm surprised no one has brought it up here yet.

Officially, I don't think anyone outside of the production team has any idea about whats going on besides whats in the trailer and that its in some way related to www.slusho.jp. Personally, I think this is kind of like Lost, where no one IN the production team has any idea about whats going on, besides whats in the trailer, and that come December, somebody on the production team is going to have to bend over really far, so that someone else on the production team can pull something out for 1-18-08. Also, I think they are going to burn themselves out by trying to be all secretive and that the buzz will die down because no one has any idea of anything official and people will get tired of it.

most of the info I've seen call it 1-18-08, a few call it Cloverfield. The greatest gist I've read says it's a moster movie ala Godzilla.

from j.j.'s at comic con, it's a monster alright, but it's a new creation, trying to make a monster the people of the US can stand behind. like how the japanese do with godzilla.

The preview made want to go do acid. I'm pretty sure it will probably be some kind of artsy fartsy monster movie like Blair Witch or some crap. You probably never see the monster and even if you do it'll be really anti-climactic like Signs lol.

um...yes we will see it. no it won't be too artsy. as J.J. Abrams says if you listened to the link i gave, it is a monster movie and he wants it to be a monster americans can stand behind, like the japanese and godzilla. now how can we all be "omg the new monster movie sequel is comming out soon!" if we don't see the monster? i can't wait to see the full actual trailer to see if there is any hope of it being a good movie.

no way there would be 2 cthulhu movies within 6 months of each other. it's a new monster. is anybody paying attention to the links i've given? also, at the site for 1.18.08 if you single out the pictures and then click and hold then shake the mouse the picture will flip over and some have text on the back.
