...and not to Hijack the thread, but what gives with all the personal attacks? Dude asked for opinions, not artillery exchanges. Can we all just lighten it up?

Theres no need to flame, this isnt PBN.

oh...compression fractures suck in the spine.

I know, I had 2 vertebrate fractured, in my neck. I was in a halo for 3 months. Thats what I get for doing drop and jumps on a bike.

EDIT: woah, necropost, didnt even realize it. oops!

my father in law fell backwards off of a picnic table bench wich is about 2 feet of the ground and was complaining of a headache for a few days. he went to the doctors and it turned out that he had a hemerage in his brain and had to have brain surgery. he was like 55 wich is not that old and he just fell 2 feet and bumped his head. he did not pass out or anything and all he complained about was a headache. now if you passed out and were convulsing then you did something that might be life threatening. you and your parents need to stop blowing it off and have it checked out. now if it was a limb or something like that then i say sure wait till monday but in this case go to the hospital.

I have 6 paid jobs working EMS, picking up folks just like you. GO TO THE HOSPITAL!!!

You can still have a spinal injury that one wrong maneuver could land you up like JERRY's KIDS.

That shaking your friend described while you appeared to be unconscious could have very well been a seizure, but as Air Assault noted, the loss of bladder or bowel would have been more indicative of that. Either way, being knocked unconscious for even 1 second is never good.

Only X-Rays and CAT Scans can clear you.

If you don't have money, most hospitals will lower the cost if you negotiate... they would rather get something then nothing.

Hey Oneworld, how are you now?

I am hoping you healed well. I was pretty concerned when I read this but really had nothing intelligent to add. I did want to check up and make sure you turned out ok. Was it a fracture or just badly bruised?

You are one of only two people that actually sent me anything when I was in the hospital, although the other item probably was a group thing...at any rate your item was hand made and meant a lot to me. I still have it, and am going to add it to a scrapbook I will be making.
Anyway, hope you are ok, give us an update.

Just be careful with the cylobenzaprine.. Literature suggests that the 'muscle relaxer' school of thought is not as therapeutic as the sedative properties. In other words, the biggest therapeutic effect is to allow you a good sleep period. Frankly using 800mg of Ibuprofen every 8 hours has worked better then Flexeril as it has analgesic (pain reducing) and anti-inflammatory properties.

The other thing is to keep moving. Don't just sit there with the flexeril and an ice pack, do gentle stretching, and walk as much as you can tolerate. The alternative is to get too tight and prolong your recovery time. You may want to check into some physical therapy -- they can do wonders with pain from back injuries.

Good luck, and next time try Web MD or something if you are desperate for medical help, or go see a licensed medical professional. No offense to AO, but we are not source #1 when it comes to medical issues. We can help you tune a level X, but lumbar compression fractures are best handled by orthopedic specialists.

BTW - This does not constitute a medical diagnosis or plan of care. Only a one on one visit with a medical professional will develop an appropriate plan of care.
