    Hmm. I made the thread.

check out user name ZeroFossilFuel on youtube he's got a bunch of cool videos on it.

I made a cell with some stainless pizza cutters I picked up for 1$ each. It produces real well but I've yet to try it out on my truck.

Been too busy with other projects.

You won't blow up your engine, you may get better mileage, and you'll probably reduce emissions.

yep.....acetylene=C2H2, hydrocarbons are all organic compounds containing just hydrogen and carbon.

skife: your right, oxygen isnt flammable, but it makes every combustion reaction much much faster. It takes a few minutes for a normal car to burn.....a car that is surrounded by pure oxygen would burn down exponentially faster and hotter. In other words, you do not want to be anywhere near a fire that has any type of fuel(fuel meaning anything combustible) in a oxygen enriched environment.

I think hes talking about a DIY some people have done. It invovle a water tank and an electrolysis setup. You get the hydrogen out of the water and then inject it into the intake. This lets you change some things to adjust how much fuel is injected each revolution to be less. Because with the hydrogen you need less gas to create the necessary combustion.

            i hope that made sense

Yes I am referring to the DIY thing.... I am pretty well versed in chemistry and though I don't know the exact numbers that it takes in amps to split the water molecule I've seen/heard more than one story of it being done.

The process uses the voltage from your alternator/battery and it basically just enhances the burn.

Well I'm pretty sure I'm gonna try it... so if someone hears a loud bang somewhere along the road, just send me your best wishes!!!

You should definitely check out the vids on youtube then, to see how he made his cell.

Check out my thread too if you can find it, another guy I know just used some stainless bbq skewers.

update us when you make some progress

Has anyone been able to show consistent gain in MPG? more then just 1 mpg? And that's not with the car computers figures?

                  My research indicates no....

Hmm, theres another guy (guy with the skewers) with a Tacoma that has 33's front and rear bumpers and he carries around a ridiculous amount of tools and spare parts(in other words a ridiculously heavy truck), he says he's getting 2-3 mpg more, while he drives on the autobahn. However, he's running it off a spare yellow top optima that he charges off the grid, therefore there is not any extra drag on the engine. So... there lies the debate, efficiency of electrolysis . Wikipedia says no... Some, who do run off the alternator, say yes.

Like I said check out youtube for a plethora of info.

                        1) you need to separate the gasses, Oxygen and Hydrogen mix will lead to your intake detonating

                        2) the electrolytic process is too slow to run an engine in real time. you will need storage tanks.

                        3) the O2 and H need to be delivered to the engine via dedicated injectors

                        4) you could but a tank of compressed O2 and a second of compressed H and plumb up a typical carburetter engine to run on it. that is how many civilian vehicles were run during WWII in England. the H was contained in gas bags on the roof. (bridges were an issue) but until your H vessel can tolerate liquid H the system is cost prohibitive.

                        5) BMW has released H fueled vehicles in Germany/France, they are Liquid H fueled.

                        they are here, now.

cities in British Columbia Canada run their city vehicles on H, and there are tons of H fueled vehicles in Iceland.
Iceland is the world leader in Hydrogen Technology.

Iceland has passed a law that they can't import oil after 2050, so yeah, they are investing heavily in hydrogen tech.

That'll be like a self-imposed great depression if they don't succeed with the new tech fast enough! Nothing wrong with innovation, but I feel strongly that when short-sighted politicians pass precarious ultimatums, disastrous consequences will result. Just hope I'm not living in Iceland in 40 years or I'll have to brush up on my horse and buggy skills...

better to be ahead of the curve than behind it. At least they recognize the problem and are setting goals of preparation. Iceland also has something like ~25% of its power and almost all free hot water because of their utilization of geothermal energy. 50 years from now, unless we have developed and started using an alternate fuel source, the demand for oil will heavily outweigh the supply....which will have a much more disastrous effect on economies than any type of preparation.
