I wish the media would stop calling John McCain a conservative. I think both of our candidates are dangerous, but at least McCain loves his country. In any event as long as we're on politics here's what I'd change:

      1) I would remove the electoral college and go to a popular vote for all elections, but leave most of the rest of the system intact.

      2) I would nationalize the primary system. As much as I love the NH first in the nation status... this system was devised long ago to allow candidates to travel across the country to expose their views to voters directly. In this day in technology (i.e. Internet, TV, radio, etc.) it is a huge waste of taxpayer time and money. A large political campaign costs about $1million/day to operate. With a national primary (all primaries on the same day nation wide) this would dramatically shorten the campaign season and reduce the overall cost.

      3) I would impose a rolling congressional term limit. Meaning that a senator could serve two consecutive 3 year terms, and a representative 3 consecutive 2-year terms before having to step down... here's the kicker. I said "consecutive terms" meaning that they could run again 1 term after stepping down.

Those are my three. Professional politicians are killing this country.

I am thinking that because you wrote this, you think Obama doesn't? What proof do you have that JM "loves" his country? Is it how he has changed his mind on pretty much every position he has, simply to try and get elected? Or is he showing the love for his country when he voted against the new GI bill? Or how about when he voted to make it ok to torture people that have been locked up for years without charges or a trial? How about when he said middle class is those that make less than 5 million a year? Oh, I know, it is because he was a POW, at least that's the excuse he gave when he didn't know how many houses he owns. Which one of these things let's us know he loves America? Oh, and of course you have proof Obama doesn't right?

Sorry Pnuemagger but it's your pathetically sad attitude, and that of people like you that are the problem. How about we turn YOUR house and yard into glass? What makes people in the middle east so different than you? Is it the color of their skin? Is it their religion? Or are you just so much of a biggot at this point you forgot why you hate them? What makes your attitude any different than the religious zealots that wish to do others harm? Nothing. You simply live in this country so in typical American fashion, you feel you are right.

The day attitudes like yours change is the day this world starts being a better place to live......Hate is learned, it isn't part of who we are. Sorry something in your life went so wrong you feel the need to hate entire countries of people.

I'll leave most of your quote alone because I prefaced with "I think both candidates are dangerous", however, for the love of country comment. Yes, I believe that if you spend years being tortured as a POW and you then decide to dedicate your life to the american people/gov that's love of country. I say this regardless of political stance. I think they are both horrible politicians who'd screw everybody for money/power. However, Obama will NOT wear the american flag on his lapel. He believe that the conuntry in it's current form has no hope, hence his political slogan "Hope". Look I know everything's not right or perfect in this world, but to say there's no hope without Obama? I beginning to think he believes he is the only choice for America to survive. Come on now, we have survived many ****ty presidents just fine. All I'm saying is that he does not love our country like McCain... but I think both are bad choices. What else am I left to vote on?

All a person needs to do is put on a flag lapel pin and it means they love their country? Man, I thought I was safe just believing it in my heart and living it through my actions.... Anyone know where I can get a flag lapel pin?

The people you need to worry about most ARE the people that are wearing the pin and telling the rest of us that because we don't we hate this country. It was the same for anyone that spoke out about the war in Iraq. Well that dog just don't hunt anymore.

Obama's hope isn't that he is the only hope- it is the hope a lot of Americans have that we can turn this country back into the greatest country in the world instead of the laughing stock of the world. It is a hope that we can stop the massive corruption the last 8 years has brought us. It's the hope that, we as a country, will again do what's best for it's population and not what's best for big business. The hope that a president won't sit by and watch as 10's of thousands of people almost die because "Brownie was doing a heck of a job" except of course the job he was supposed to do which was being the head of FEMA (which he didn't do) You see we (Obama and his supporters) know this country deserves better than what we had for the last 8 years. That is the hope he speaks of. That is why he gets my money and my vote. (let's not forget the 84k people that came to hear his acceptance speech)
Take the time to educate yourself about the man and not just what you hear on fox news.

I know some of you won't vote for him because he is a dem.
I know some of you won't vote for him because he is a black man.
How about we stop voting along party lines and start voting for the best person for the job.... McCain of 5 years ago would be a great president, Mcsame of today is just a joke.

Snipped the rest because this is the only part I want to comment on.

I sincerely hope you don't think that in this respect Obama is any different. He lied to you about telecom immunity, he lied to you about PAC's and special interests, and he'll continue to lie to you after you vote for him. He's a politician, it's in his genes.

I had a decent sized response typed out and closed the tab by accident.....but this should sum it up:

If you believe a word a politician says, especially when campaigning, your an idiot. Everything a politician does and says is an attempt to gain votes, they are literally selling themselves to the majority. If any candidate gave a crap about the country they would have spent the past year working in an attempt to help the country, not campaigning in a political popularity contest.

If you want to hear some real opinions and ideas listen to people who have no chance of winning, or better yet talk to someone whos not a professional popularity contest winner(aka politician).
