Haha! Is it bad that I was only half joking
At least it would stay green until the fall when you can re-seed again.

If you end up reseeding later, I've used Scott's PatchMaster (or something like that). It's a mixture of seed, fertilizer, and shredded newspaper and it has worked well for me in some trouble spots. It's a bit expensive though ($9 to cover 100sq/ft) but you can buy it in larger bags. The key is to keep it wet and don't spread it too thick/thin.

Water the heck out of it to dilute the chemicals and then add some topsoil and either sod or plant new seeds in a couple of weeks.

what did you use? active ingredient?

irrigate and till the soil. add some topsoil and seed. most of the stuff has probably already broken down in the sunlight. its grass, no big deal.

Have you considered contacting the company that made the grass death juice?

                  that

If dousing with water would be enough to stop it from killing the grass initially, I'd just wait till after a few heavy rains(maybe even some hose watering too, depending on the area) and throw some seed down.

Why am I picturing smiley faces of dead grass?

I wasnt in the mood for debate and pulled a "Whatever you want, i dont care."

Well, without paying much attention, i mix it, and spray my yard.

Problem 1. Sprayer is broken, so its constantly spraying a little, never shuts off.

Problem 2. It wasnt weed and feed, it was ground-clear.

So, my front yard has a path of death from where i walked with a sprayer, from place to place killing everything....

                    I need to re-build.

I'm thinking i'll need to rip out all the old grass, hack up the dirt, put down some topsoil and seed/fertilizer, and cover with straw?

However, arent you NOT supposed to plant grass unless its spring/fall?

So, what can i do so that my yard doesn't look like total **** until fall?

                    Thanks
hey whats up! well it sounds to me like round-up was used on your lawn.round-up is a non-selective product meaning it will kill whatever its sprayed on. what you should of applied was a selective herbicide like chemical name surge.A chemical that can be applied to your weeds in yourlawn like clover, dandiloins, thistle, spurge, amongst many other broadleaf weeds.the label on most herbicids will let you know what weeds it will kill controlled properly. now another problem was using a sprayer that leaks or spills out especially if it was round-up used because it probably killed areas that wasn't controlled meaning spots and streaks throughout the lawn from the sprayer leaking. If you used a 4 gal. backpack sprayer which can be bought at sams club in oakwood, ohio for fifty dollars would work great for you in the future.the chemical surge can be bought at larrys garden center in maple heights, ohio for 1 gal containerof product for around 60.00/mixture rate would be 1.2 oz. of product per 1gal of water.now if you have areas on your lawn that isnt to badly burned some areas might bounce back and areas that our dead at this point just rake out alittle and get some topsoil and just topdress areas, level out and add a mix blend grass seed.instead of using straw use penn mulch which can be bought at larrys also i believe.so by adding topsoil, levelingout, grass seed, penn mulch.that process should do the trick for you but make sure you keep the seed and penn mulch moist daily until it starts germinating and coming in.well good luck,And fall is the best time to grow a lawn but doing it now just requirs more watering and watching over it until it comes in.two weeks you should have lawn coming up for you.

Round Up Pro doesn't usually last more then 96 hours, so wait a week, turn the soil, then either sod or seed. Seeding will obviously take longer. If your going the "do it yourself" route, try the Scotts brand fertilizers. Pick up a broadcast spreader, and a decent hose type sprayer and do it in small areas first, until you get the hang of applying it. Just remember, it's a lot easier and cheaper to fix small F'up's vs big ones. Also, I recommend practicing in the areas of your lawn that isn't noticeable to the rest of the community, i.e, the back yard vs the front yard.

I used to own a landscaping company up north and used to be in this field for over 20 years. Your biggest issue is to read the labels, ask questions that you don't understand and take small steps at first. Also, the best info can be found at your local county extension service or co-op.

Ask them if they have any composting resources. Compost is banned in some counties due to its products and smell, not results. Compost is made up of mainly manure, yes, poo, and really stinks to high heaven, lol, but it works and works very well when re-vamping a lawn. It's composed of manure (human or animal) and is mixed with micro nutrients and light fertilizers ( referred to as starter fertilizers) and is quite safe for the environment as well as you. It just stinks and offends most peoples sense of smell.

Apply this at 2" to the top of the soil, then seed the area. Take a small tiller ( I prefer the Mantis cultivator) and lightly mix the two with the soil. No fertilizer is needed, as it is already in the compost. You can put hay down, but doing this will block the light the new grass seed needs once it has broken through the soil. I don't recommend it. Water the area daily for approx 1 hour (or 1" per area Acheiving 1" is easily obtained by measuring one inch on an old soup can, placing in the lawn and timing how long it takes for the water to get to one inch mark. Water pressure varies, so it may take longer or less, depending on your actual water pressure) during growing days (approx first week) in the early am, before the sun comes up. This will ensure the water penetrates the lawn before evaporating.

Once the new grass has reached approx 4-6 inches in height, reduce watering to 2-3 times a week at 1 hour per section. Also, it is safe to mow now, but you may want to have your lawn mower blades sharpened or buy new blades. I generally tell people to replace their blades in the spring, and sharpen them in the fall. This will ensure you get a good cut and reduce the brown/burnt look after you mow, reducing stress and disease over the long run. After 3 months, you can fertilize/treat weeds without fear of killing your new lawn. DO NOT treat your new lawn with weed killer the first 3 months or it will kill your new grass. It needs approx 3 months to build up its root system first.

Any other questions, just ask or pm me.
