What was your GT score? That's your bread and butter. The max was 130 when I joined. If you score over 100 your job openings are pretty good. Anything over 115, you can be placed in just about anything. I scored a 119 when I took it.

If your going in. Try to get a job you can use on the outside to fall back on. Being a tank maintainer isn't piratical for outside use.

When I took the AFOQT I scored in about the same percentile, but I did extremely well in Pilot and Navigator sections. They told me it was very competitive for a pilot slot.

        Want to be a pilot?!?

            **BE WARY OF RECRUITERS**

Do some independent research FIRST. If you have friends in the military, talk to them. A recruiter's job is to fill whatever slot/rate/mos they need to fill and make their quotas. Do not settle for anything less than what you want to do. I would recommend that before you speak with a recruiter, that you know the options available to you so you have something to negotiate with. I have heard too many stories from guys I know that were swindled out of rates and even officer billets just so a recruiter could make their numbers.

Which branch of service are you looking at joining? What is your academic background? What do you want to do?

Your golden bro. That opens up a lot of jobs and it was 110 not 115 that opens the flood gates for MOS's

I would go into a technical job. Most of the 30 series, any of the 67, 68 series, same with the 91 series and any of the 97 and 98 series you should really look into. I have a bunch of friends that went into the 97-98 fields and most if not all are working for the NSA, FBI, CIA or freelancing with gov contractors right now making 6 figures.

I was a 67T in the Army. After I got out, I landed a job right away. Only thing is you have to move to these jobs unless you live in a large metropolitan area. Don't worry, moving is part of the game when it comes to the military, you get use to it..

I'm originally from TX...I've been living in MD for almost 9 years now.

Down side of going into those types of jobs. The commitment is pretty big. 6 years for most and reason being is you can make a killing on the outside with those types of qualifications. The military has a hard time keeping people in those carrier fields due to the lure of the outside market.

If your just going in to get money for college then get into the 11 series. The commitment is small. 2-3 yrs tops and you get a ton of money for college, signing bonuses...ect..ect..

Friend from HS went in as a 11B. Did 2 yrs, had like 150k for college and all this previous college debt paid by the Gov. Can't beat that.

It means you should be talking to a Navy recruiter!

Seriously, a 70 is a good score. Talk to all the branches. But keep in mind: The Navy is the only branch that not only 'guarantees' you a specific job, but also puts it in your contract. If you don't see your specific job in your contract, don't sign it...walk away. But seriously...if you are claustophobic, or you get sea-sick real easily, you might want to talk to the Air Force.

Lol...You know, I have a few Navy friends I work with that say the exact same thing. All branches guarantee. Every person I know signed up for a specific job got into it. This was back in the mid 90's. This in no way means your always going to be doing the job you signed up for. They don't have a MOS for cutting grass or raking leaves

The Army is notorious for motor stables.
