It is now. Days after claiming recovery in the economy the government shuts down all offshore drilling operations - because apparently expensive fuel had nothing to do with our economies issues?

Didn't say that it was. I followed links from the HuffPo (not everyday reading, just the kook stories)
But the SWAT teams are a topic of discussion all over, accusing the POTUS of being a bit of a dim bulb. Why SWAT? No scientists? No engineers? Just remember Drudge and the blue dress, the Enquirer and John Edwards. They weren't reliable sources at the time either. As an aside, the Enquirer has a piece about the POTUS and alleged infidelity now, too.
Just figured I would stir the pot a bit. It has been a slow weekend.

I agree, I don't think this is a partisan issue. It's a natural consequence to our country's addiction to oil. (can't say much more than that, as my livelihood is also dependent on a thriving oil and gas market).

What surprises me is that BP's stocks fall while it's sub suppliers rise. I mean Cameron build the BOP, Transocean operated the rig.

I'm still also somewhat surprised that they haven't bombed the thing shut yet.

The press didnt say the truth, that the governor was an idiot and waited many days to ask for federal help, no they blamed GWB for abiding by the US Constitution and waiting for a help request.

This time its in the Gulf and needs no state governor to ask for help, and O waits 9 days !

I read an article about what the government's plan was to counter a Gulf Oil spill involving immediate deployment of fire resistant floating booms. The plan dated back to 1994 and when this happened, the government had none of those booms on hand.

actually the coast guard was there on day one, in full force.

BP literally lied and said less the 5,000 barrels were leaking per day when in reality they even knew that it was at least 5 times that. so of course the response was weak ... about 5 times too weak. crap in = crap out ... governments and political affiliations don't change that.
