I need a new vehicle in a month or so

    I'm looking at the following:
Toyota Tundra, Toyota Tacoma, Chevy Silverado 1500, Chevy Colorado, Dodge Ram 1500, Dodge Dakota, Chevy Camero, Dodge Challenger, Dodge Charger
Does anyone have any feedback on any of these? Specifically if anyone owns any of these and can give me feedback.

    Thanks

Not a fan of the Challenger or Charger. They're decent, but I find them lacking and I find that you can get other/better cars for the same price.

Just spent 2 days in a Camero SS. Visibility is poor. You'll need to get very used to using your mirrors, and get a good 'feel' for where the corners of the car are. If you can handle that, then it's a LOT of fun, and surprisingly comfortable.

Obviously by your list you have no need of decent gas mileage...

What do you plan on using the vehicle for primarily? Why no looking at Mustangs or Fusions?

This will be primarily for tooling around and leisure activities. My employer is providing a commuter vehicle for me, so this vehicle will be used for all personal activities in general. I guess you could say its going to be a weekend vehicle. I have two themes going. First, I'm a young guy with a great job going to a new city, so a sporty car would be a nice thing to have for the sake of fun. On the other hand a truck would be nice for hunting/fishing trips, trips to the hardware store after I buy a house (I'll be renting for a while first though), and other stuff like that.

The third theme I have is no Fords lol. I guess I could look at the F-150, Mustang, and a Taurus or Fusion. I'm just not a ford guy, and there is no real reason for this come to think of it.

And no, mileage is not really a consideration for me. As I said above my employer is providing a commuter/work vehicle for me and paying for the gas. they are stick on using the car/gas for work purposes ONLY, so I need a personal vehicle for recreation, weekends, and such.

        Ahh, well.

Can't comment on the Trucks. Haven't looked into them.

Personally I'd say Camaro > Challenger.

I like Dodge designs, but I find their engineering/mechanical design suspect.

If there's no good reason, I would suggest at least looking at the Mustang, Fusion Sport, or Taurus.

Our company uses Taurus' as company cars. They're VERY nice.

I just got done doing that. I don't really like the Mustang. the Fusion might be ok. I thin k I like the Taurus best of the three. I'll have to look into it further.

I am a Chevy guy so I would recommend a Chevy. I own and have worked on Toyotas, and do not really care for them. I would recommend a crew cab Silverado. They have enough room in the back to allow other men to ride somewhere with you, and you can still put plenty in the bed. If something does go wrong with them you don't have trouble finding parts, or someone who knows how to fix them (unlike toyota trucks). If you insist on getting a toyota please do not get a tacoma.

Chevy was ok when I had one. You should just test drive a nissan Titan. It is really nice. When I was looking for a new new truck I test drove everyone full-size truck on the market. If you want a weekend ride get a jeep wrangler. Go hunting fishing and drop the top on the weekend. We have one now and it is a ton of fun.

I bought a Colorado quad cab a few months ago, I love it. Several of the fleets around my shop (some of our contracts) have them and if you change the oil they are great. Mine rides good and has 5 less horsepower than the taco v-6 with 2 more mpg and rated to tow 6000. They also do very well off road(camping hunting off roading not mud bogging rock climbing). If your buying brand new the Colorados also now come with the 5.3 v8. The full sizes are great too. They also have alot more room in the bed and a bit more room in the back seat. Not really a car guy anymore but the Camaro takes it, I buddy has one (SS2 package) VERY fast and alot of fun.

camero is crap, mustang is trash, charger is phooy. they all drive like armored personal carriers (yes i have driven them). sure they put down mean numbers on the drag strip and skid pad, but they are not very much fun to drive, esp the automatics. they are big, heavy, and ententirly too much metal. there size does make them somewhat livable, but in the role of fun, there size just ruins it for me. hard to toss a battleship around the backroads.

for down right fun you best bet is going to be roadsters. look for SLKs, Z4s, maybe an S2000 or boxster S. heck, even a nice NC miata and if your handy, a few upgrades and you have a WICKED track car that will dominate an SS. heck, even a nice 370z, TT or S4. and actually, im gonna say a gen1 CTS-V might be good for you too.

im saving up for a classic 911, so that tells you where my heart lies.

when you drive a car like that on the backroads with a good radar detector, its like nothing else. work, women, school, anything you were thinking about doesn't matter. just you, a fine car, and a nice road ...

None of those come even remotely close to meeting my basic needs. The Camaro and Challenger were not really heavily in the running due to being two door and a little too small. If I can't fit three or four buddies in it, then it is almost completely unappealing to me.

I am leaning towards the Silverado, but the Tundra and Ram are tied at a not so distant second.

For some reason the towing package in the Chevy truck can mean as much as 6 miles less per gallon so if you dont need it dont get it.
I had one with the small V8 and the towing package and it got 14mpg.
Guy I work with has the same truck same motor without the towing package and gets 20mpg.

you said fun cars, you didn't say anything about 3 buddies in it.

if it can hold 4 grown men, its to big a car to have much fun in it ... general rule of thumb ...
