Well, since it seems we're getting completely off the topic of trucks, I'll just throw in my fav car:
My brand new 02 Subaru Impreza WRX
(It's just about to turn 4 months old)

As for the actual topic - the only thing I like about trucks is the utilitarian aspect. And for me, as long as it runs, I can fill the back up with stuff. I moved from the dorms to my apartment with my friend's 70's something Isuzu Pup with no power steering and one of the wiring leads to the battery kept coming loose, but it got the job done (oh, and the muffler fell off).
Making really fast pick-ups seems sorta dumb to me... if you want something fast why not use a vehicle designed for it?
So, I guess I live in a cave and have no clue

Hey Heat, and other Ford enthusiasts, what's your take on the SHO??? A lot of big headed SHO owners have been saying some pretty outlandish things. "Faster than the stang" and my favorite "Ford engineering at it's best." Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't the SHO engine designed, and built in Japan?
Funny, but the only ford engines in cars that are worth crap are not american design. The 5.0 roller block was actually a german design and the SHo's found in tauruses where from japan. And no they are NOT faster then stangs. maybe faster then the 4.6's and up but I don't know I hate the way anything after 93 looks so I don't bother with it.

If I were to get involved in sports cars again I would go bmw. GM makes some nice car, given, but I rather not have that sloppy roll caused by the weight of GM cars. And the 94's and up stangs aren't anybetter. The funny thing is, for everything that Gm comes up with Ford makes something just a little faster....

one thing though... I am DROOLING over the new GT-40s those were always one of my fav cars and the sounds for a 429 roaring is motor sports at it's best, but the new GT-40 is gonna cost GM. The new supercharged 5.4l the stuck in that thing is ratted at close to 500 ( I THINK I honestly cant'remember, I've been looking at too many production sports cars latly. The 18' rims it has are TIGHT....

don't get me wrong, I like ford... just it has to say stang on it and be earlier then 94 with the excetion of this new GT-40 , also, ford trucks might be a better then chevy, but fords designers are really getting payed too much for the stuff they come up with, If I didn't know it better I'd say the does on their trucks were parts to a swimming pool... that's how tall they appear.

in the end, for a truck I'd get a chevy based on looks and price, for a car it would be a BMW if a GT-40 wasn't within my price range with less money I'd be looking for a 93 cobra and if non of the above were available I would need a 5-speed at the VERY less in ANYTHING to keep me from quitting my driving pleasure, because auto trannys..... SUCK

PS one of my best budds has a brand new 2001 SVT lighting in silver.... and Ohh the suade seats... are oohhhhhhh But like with any car, if you are afraid to get on it then you just own it to make up for a lack somewhere else this is true with my bud

Anyone who is talking smack about American cars needs to go test drive a new Z28/Trans Am/Cobra....Maybe you'll change your mind then.

Stepping on that pedal is like a swift kick to the junk!

Foreign cars aint American, thats why they suxors,

          :P peace

Can't tell you about the cars, but I can about trucks

              Splat Max posting:
OK well I've used/been around both of their heavy duty trucks.
First we(that is my family/Dad) had a 99 Ford F-350, 4 door pickup, it was nice and I was a Diehard Ford fan, I mean I'd turn off chevy and dodge camercials on tv. Well that truck got totaled, not our fault, drunk driver(on the way home from playing paintball BTW), so we have to get another.

After looking around for awhile and test driving, my dad decideds on a 2002 Chevy 2500 4 door. I have to say that I like the Chevy better It drives better, is quiter, and overal I nicer truck IMO, not to say that Ford is bad, I still like them. But I was/am impressed with the chevy, so that's my opinion.

All car and truck (And I mean trucks not the grocery getting station wagons that your mom drives) manufacturers suck.

                Unconditional brand loyalty is dumb.

"Buy American" means nothing these days.

Always been a Ford man. Owned a bunch of them. Presently I am inot the Superduties. Have a F250 Supercab Superduty right now. I do like Chevy trucks too but "you drive what your Daddy drove" as they say.

Hey go over to F150online and search for me. I am cphilip there too. I wrote several articles on certain modifications for them when I had my F150 Lariat 4X4. Sure miss that one but it wasn't big enough for what I trailer now.

Sure, thats a modified Ford Ive seen LS1 Z28s run low 10's before....so what And seen Eclipses Run 10's too. This is a talk now about stock Vs stock. A stock GM car can and will spank any Ford(maybe besides the '02 Cobra, like I said before). Now if your talking modified cars...well, its anyones game there....

Its kind of funny when my stock v6 honda accord family car is only 0.4 seconds slower and 500lbs heavier in the 1/4 than a 4.6 v8 GT mustang.

Whereas a chevy LS1 will spank my butt before I get halfway to the finish line. Stock with a 6 sp they run 13's. LS1's rock.

To get a comparably powered ford mustang you will have to dump over 35.5 grand on a cobra. Thats over 10k more than an LS1 powered camaro. For somthing that gets similar 1/4 mile times. By the time you get 35 grand you might as well go the extra distance and get an LS1 powered corvette. Which will spank the cobra silly.

                        Chevy is better...

                        I love LS1 power!

The flags on MY vehicles have NOTHING to do with where they were made. They have to do with me being proud to be an American. PERIOD.

As for what vehicle is made where.. this has all been discussed here on AO as well. Few card are totally made (or made with parts made in) in the country the Company is/was based out of. And that goes for most any product. We have become a global society when it comes to products and business.

                            So what is the issue?

Buy what you LIKE, and what you WANT... all the rest is useless chest puffing that proves and means nothing.

                              Butterfingers! hell yeah!

If you put 10k into an LS1 making it a $35k car, You will have one bad MOFO that would stomp the Cobra. The stage 3 Twin turbo kit for the LS1 pushes +600 HP and in the 10 secound range and can be done under $10k. Or a Supercharger for about $3k will put you over 400hp in the 11-12 sec range. LS1's are the BOMB.......too bad they are going to stop production on them

                              peace yall

                                1993 - 1995 Dodge Caravan Baby!

                                Thrid one I've owned.

First one was stolen with 125,000 miles and all original equipment.

Second one was totaled by a drunk driver while it was parked. That one had 85,000 miles on it and all original equipment.

The odometer is about to turn over to 200,000 miles on it and I might be getting a new engine for her (only becuase I don't trust rebuilds) but the tranny is fine.

She's not a muscle car but I've almost seen 100 in her. She carries my family and my friends and everything in between and has a kicking sound system. Great thing about vans and baseheads is that the entire cabin is airspace for the base speakers.

I love my Dodge but if I had to choose I would go with a Checy truck instead of a Ford truck.
Return to the free market. Get rid of all government regulations and let society make it's own decisions. Time and again the relaxing of government regulations has increased profits, innovation and the economy.
