It's all preference. I'm a Chevy man myself, but there's one good Ford, and that's a Pinto owned by a guy who's life revolves around nothing but pot and drag racing. He's like 50 too, but Mellow Yellow does the 1/4 mile in 10's.
6's? are you sure? the last 6 sec car I've seen was a sponcored car and it was worth a alot more then anyone could come up with on their own....

Jeez, you could pull the moon from it's orbit with that kind of displacement.

Okay as long as its a sweet looking truck (lifted not lowered) I don't really care what it is. But I have a '87 Ford bronco 4x4 right now so I have to say Ford RULES
It has a 6in superlift kit, 35in TSL Thornbirds, warn enforcer bumper, lockers, and its about to get a GT40 engine dropped in. One mean mud slinging machine.
Oh and for all the sports cars out there when your stuck in the snow, mud, water or whatever and have to pay me $30 bucks to tow you out thanks
I like to go up to the rich part of town when theres bad weather cause theres always some silly rich guy or kid out with there nice car stuck. So I pull up roll down the window and tell them $30 buck to get them out. If they don't have it I start to drive away Tell ya what they find that money pretty fast once I start to go

As far as trucks go, Chevy is the best in my mind. I really like my S10, and it has a bigger V6 (4.3L) than some V8s out there. Stoplight to stoplight I can shut down most Rangers and a few F150s. Also remember that this engine was in THE fastest truck of all time, the Syclone. Intercooled turbo all wheel drive truck that could outrun a Ferrari 348ts in the quarter and has beaten a Testarossa in a few shootouts. 13.4 seconds on the quarter stock. The Lightning runs it in 13.7 seconds. Of course, GM has done quite well with their turbo cars. (Grand National and Trans Am included)
I have to admit that the Lightning is standing alone right now, but not for long. GM has more than a few ideas in my to challenge it. One that could easily beat it for 1/4 mile speed would be the SSR if they added a intercooled supercharger to the new 5.3L aluminum block V8.
Something else of interest, GM is probably going to come back with an "El Camino", currently called the Holden Ute, along with a few other from "down under", including a new GTO. (Holden is GM's division in Australia)
Ford makes some nice vehicles. The early 90s SHO cars are in all honesty a little bit faster than most Mustang GTs. I once saw a sheet that had 1/4 ETs for "fast Fords" that had it ranked above most years of the GT. It's a DOHC 3L, and I've seen them win a few races as my dad has owned 2. I really liked the looks of the new T Bird, although it lacks power (252 HP/261 lb-ft tq). I'm surprised nobody has talked about the Z06 Corvette. Now that's a monster! I look forward to the GT40 and Chevy's retro BelAir powered by a turbo I5 (315HP/315 lb-ft tq). As far as new trucks, I want a TrailBlazer after graduation and really really really want an SSR after that. GM owns Hummer, and a 6L V8 H2 would be an awesome SUV! Ford lost me when they had their little run in with Shelby over the name "Cobra." Now look who he works with
All in all, I enjoy cars and trucks for what they are.

I was talking about stock trucks. Yes, the R/T with a 5.9L V8 is nice, but it makes 250 horsepower and 345 lb/ft of torque. How can that compare to 380 horsepower and 450 lb/ft of torque? Put a supercharger on an R/T and it will be a very fast truck. Again, I can give an example of where Chevrolet has done a great job: compare the 5.9L Dodge V8 vs. the 6.0L Chevy V8 they put in the Escalade. The Chevy makes 345 horsepower and 380 lb/ft of torque. That's 95 more horsepower and 35 more lb/feet of torque out of a tenth of a liter more on the same gas octane.
Someone said something about the engine of the early 90's SHO. It was, in fact, made by Yamaha. My dad dislikes Ford enough that he replaced their symbol with the Yamaha on his SHO.

Here is the "Fast Ford ETs" page I was talking about, although I thought for sure there was a 92 SHO somewhere up there...

I wish Honda made big motors. Then my favorite car wouldent be an LS1 vette.

I must admit 240 horsepower at 9000rpms out of a naturally aspirated no turbo no super 2.0 liter 4 cylinder engine that meets ULEV requirements, is impressive. 120hp a liter! I want an S2000!

the thing about the Rt that's so attractice is it's power to weight ratio.... I'm sure it's not a whole lot lower then the lighting just because of that... but this is just an opinion, i didn't even think of it till this thread. so don;t go breaking your head on 1/4 times to prove me wrong...
