Since this thread was brought back from the dead, I feel obligated to add my input. Who thinks of quarter mile times when they're buying a vehicle. It's all a bunch of tree hugging hippy crap. What I look for in a vehicle is comfort, room (I'm almost 6'4", so naturally that's an important factor for me), and handling.

For something on topic, I voted Chevy. I test drove a '96 Chevy K3500, then my dad's F350, and I prefered how the Chevy rode. If I do get another truck sometime in the near future (my current one is a 4wd S10 Blazer), it'll probably be a GM (the only Ford I've got my eye on is my Grandfather's '56 Ford that my Uncle Dave is restoring to as close to factory condition as possible).
There are three kinds of people in the world: Those who can count, and those who can't.

      With understanding comes understanding.

If the saying is true that we are what we eat, aren't we all just cannibals?

BTW, if I can't get a pickup for my next vehicle, a nice Caprice Classic would be nice (too bad it'd have to be a used Caprice, I don't think they make them anymore).

I've have to cast my little vote to my GMC, since it's lasted a bit under 410,000 miles (and still going) , while my Dad's Ford "only" lasted about 250,000 miles.

He went and bought a Dodge replacement, and it's too young to really have a good data...

But if I could buy a british truck... I would.

*I* DO! And I won't buy it unless it's fast or for a winter beater. I don't care one bit about ride quality or room. All i want to know is, will it smoke that kid in daddy's muscle car over there or not?

After buying this truck (truck in sig), I decided it will be a long time before I purchase another new vehicle that cannot run 13's in the 1/4 mile off the showroom floor.

But don't mind me, as I am a crazy guy.

I really like my S10, and it has a bigger V6 (4.3L) than some V8s out there. Stoplight to stoplight I can shut down most Rangers and a few F150s.
Is this guy serious? he's talking about racing in a s10 pickup truck...let me say that again for my own amusement....an s10 pickup truck. Thank you everyone for your time.

This kind of vehicle shopping makes absolutely no sense to me. I am 24 and I already realize how important interior room, quality, and comfort of ride are. I cared as much about 1/4 mile times as you do when I was 16, I'll admit that much, but as you grow older(most cases wiser) you SHOULD reaslize that it is the car that encompases the whole package that would prove most satisfying.......HHmmm.........I am thinking about purchasing a new gun...it fires backwards, but what perfect weight distrbution!

                                Chevy trucks own all

Fords are pieces of ****. My dad has a 2002 chevy 2500HD crew cab with a duramax diesel. stock the engine has 300hp and 520ft.lbs. of torque. He could easily pay about $200 for a special chip that raises it to 390hp 750ft.lbs. of torque. with that it can rip a mustang to shreds in a quarter mile. Have Ford beat that. Oh also...we went camping last summer and got approx. 20mpg pulling a trailer. It also was only at about 2000rpm. It did not even have any problems at all. And then if you wanted to you could upgrade the turbo charger. If you did I would say it could be over 500hp and around 900-1000ft.lbs. of torque. There is no way Ford can beat that.
