Actually. the Democrat method is not tax and spend, it's spend first, then impose tax to make up the money.
And tax the rich? Look at how that's going in places like California or New York. Tax the rich, the rich move elsewhere ~ Drive out all the rich and who's left with the bill?
It's already happening at the State level. You wanna push that Nationally, the only ones left to pay will be the politicians pushing for it and the illegal immigrants.
Well, and people like you & me stuck in the middle.

Take a 35 trillion dollar debt, divide that by the 350 million Americans. (rough numbers)
Tell me what is each persons portion of that debt? I'll let you do the math. That does not exclude those too young or too old to actually pay into the debt.
To say that those individuals who have worked longer, harder and smarter to make themselves better off should have to pay more is hardly an incentive to make themselves better.
Maybe that should be the motto of the IRS,
We have what it takes, To take what you have.
Of course, even that is no guarantee that the revenue raised will be applied to existing debt. That is the question that needs answering.
Taxing the rich, then spending it overseas does not help the economy.

Actually, that is the government's way. Create a budget, then appropriate the money for that. It is neither democrat nor republican, but the American way.

That only works for state taxes. Companies need to have a headquarter in some place, in order to do business, and some businesses need to be in certain areas. But income doesn't need to be by state, so therefore, it is by federal law, as a citizen. One would think that if we increase the citizenry, we could increase the tax revenue. Funny how that works...

Well, and people like you & me stuck in the middle.
Illegal citizens, do not pay taxes. So they are not paying for anything. So one would think that the companies that hire illegals are doing bad, by hiring them, under the table. I wonder if we should have a law against that?

Regardless, as law abiding citizens, we pay taxes so the government can pay for things. That is how it works. If you want police, fire department, or I don't know, have the government assist you when a natural disaster happens and you loose things.

Or how about this. We go after those companies that make billions, and tax them accordingly? Why should Amazon pay less than a school teacher? And then, we go after those individuals who happen to lie and cheat on their taxes. Being greedy is one of those deadly sins and not very Christian.

This is the funny thing. The US government, since it controls the national debt, can make it go away. That debt is the government asking itself for a loan. So the government can easily wave that loan.

Ok, and here is an econ101 lesson. If the manufacturer is overseas, and you want cheap products, you spend it overseas. When Reagan basically allowed the companies to move production out of the US, those companies jumped as they could basically double profits. Which made China a manufacturing hub, so the big bad China that is posed to take over the world, was made on the short sighted greed of US companies.

You really don't have a clue do you? The more you post the more uneducated you prove you are.

The U.S. national debt is owned by a variety of entities, including:

Foreign governments: A large portion of the public debt is held by foreign governments. As of April 2024, the top five foreign owners of U.S. debt are Japan, China, the United Kingdom, Luxembourg, and Canada.

U.S. banks and individual investors: These entities own a portion of the public debt.
The Federal Reserve: The Federal Reserve buys and sells Treasury bonds to control the money supply and set interest rates.
State and local governments: These governments have lent money to the federal government and own a portion of the national debt.
Mutual funds, pensions funds, insurance companies, and holders of savings bonds: These entities also own a portion of the public debt.

We had all those things and more before they instituted Federal Income Tax. Now, the electrical grid is faltering with rolling blackouts in places, libraries have become vandalized relics thanks to the internet, roads are washing away leaving folks stranded, even entire towns are sliding downhill in CA. Try drinking the water in East Palestine, Ohio.
What people want, and what they get are very different things.

No, you pay taxes under the extortionist threat of prison if you don't. You don't have the freedom to refuse or even the freedom to decide how it's spent.
You seem to be suffering under the delusion that the Government has its own money. It doesn't. It has the money of the American People. And it spends it and spends it...Ad Infinitum.

As far as assistance, listen to this lady describe the response in N. Carolina...

Did you ever think that, maybe when we put those things in, that you have to maintain them? Did you think that for the almighty dollar that people choose to disregard common sense or even practical reason not to do something so thry can make a buck?

The electrical grid is old. It was started back in the Eisenhower admin, but no one wants to spend money on that. Add in the fact that while you can't control population growth, building new homes for sake of the dollar, does more harm to the utilities like electric and water.

And East Palestine, OH. The drinking water is bad because of a huge chemical spill, not infrastructure. Ut why was there a spill? Deregulation on the transportation(rail), which doubled the work for half the necessary employees to maintain safe cars. Soon accident happened, and who thinks deregulation is a good thing? Republicans, as the regulations for the rail system were lifted during the trump admin.

You would have a better argument if you said Flint, MI that East Palestine, but that was also from republican law makers too.

Actions have consequences. As a citizen, you have the right to push laws into use or not, through your vote, through your representative. If the citizens want something, and bring it to their representative, and it doesn't happen, then that representative gets voted out. It is the process.

And here is the rub. You use those services, from the roads you travel on, to the mail system, to the electricity you use. Even if you lived off the grid, those times where you got your seasonal supplies, also use them.

Actually, the government does have its own money, as they control the federal reserve and can withdraw or add in money. Now, that is an inflationary practice, adding in money, as that drops the value of it. But who sets that value? We used to be on the gold standard, but not anymore. As gold is a finite resource. But let me know when you are going to go to Fort Knox to remove yoir fair share of it.

And the money being used to provide water, food, shelter to those that don't have anything? Where did that come from? What about those National Guard helicopters and boats, plus those rescuers? Are they a figment of your imagination? No, it was authorized by FEMA, which Biden activated days before the storm hit, so thry could get a head start on it, when they knew the area which was to be effected.

You are doing a horrible job of cherry picking the topic, and not having context.

And Beemer, what have you contributed to anything? Have you tried talking to Scott about updating his GPS?

                Addendum:

The $750 checks to the people are true. That is the immediate assistance money. Given so that people can have ready cash to buy whatever they need. More aid, in addition to that is earmarked. It is also straight from FEMA, not Kamala Harris, but you could say that, as she is part of the Biden admin, so to a point, that is true.

Now, other than people donating from charities are giving, this is really a republican issue on how much money is given, as the republicans control the house, and the house is where the money is being allocated from. So, this is another shifting blame game, as the Biden admin has done everything it can, and would rather have you spread the truth and not the manure that you are passing as information.

The Federal Reserve is the U.S. Central Bank.

Who controls the Federal Reserve now?
Today, the Fed is tasked with managing U.S. monetary policy, regulating bank holding companies and other member banks, and monitoring systemic risk in the financial system. The seven-member Board of Governors, the system's seat of power, is based in Washington, DC, and currently led by Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

Many people are surprised to learn that the central bank of the United States, the Federal Reserve ("the Fed," for short), operates for the most part independently of the federal government.

The Federal Reserve Banks are not a part of the federal government, but they exist because of an act of Congress.

Now give us all a minute to get some

Lost track of how many times to ban you and didn't
All I did was make a legal post about some citizen getting indictments and convictions. Tell me where did that violate the rules? I mean, this thread is full of far more heinous topics, yet it can go on. So no, I was not trolling, but it does seem that there is one set of rules for people who share your political views.

Also, if you ban me, shouldn't you also moderate those people who flagrantly also avoid the filter?

Our off topic forum. (You mean there are things other than paintball??) Please keep your posts civil, and refrain from topics that are likely to start problems. (NOTE: Any thread may be closed for any reason.)

And before you say/type anything, I was banned for a lot less than that.

But honestly, I am tired of it. I am done till the election. And when trump looses again, we will see all the crying, all the excuses and all the fingerprinting about how you were cheated, it's unfair and the dems had to cheat because who doesn't love a criminal racist that wants to destroy this country and literally go against everything that this country has stood for since it's last fight against fascism.

So I don't really care what you have to say. I really don't. This is tedium, monotonous, and no longer fun. Everyone here has drunk the trump branded kool-aid(would that be trool-aid then?) and refuses to open there eyes.

Just remember, that banning me cause I happen to have different beliefs than you. Participate in that cancel culture that you say you are against.

See you after Harris wins the election.
