Congrats on passing the test, it's nice to know that you can really help someone instead of just standing there watching. Just wait, one day you might have to do cpr on somebody with a mouth full of vomit :P

Hehe I'm CPR certified except all I had to do was take health and practice on some little doll and they gave me some card saying I'm certified.

They made us do that back in 9th grade. Not a bad thing to learn.

                pretty cool

i get certified every year, first aid every 3 years.sometimes i even take infant/child cpr/first aid with my wife.
i am also electrical hazard certified, i have to be tested to perform an aerial rescue(break electrical contact, get up, assess and secure my victim and get him to the ground) from 40-50 feet and initiate cpr in less than 3 minutes. i have to do all this and keep my red cross certifications every year for my job.
its a cool feeling knowing that you have this in your pocket, so i know what you mean.

congradulations! CPR certification is certainly something to be proud of. Just the other day at my work three CPR certified workers (1 ex-emt, 1-volunteer fireman, 1 certified employee) saved this coworker who stopped breathing. They were the first responders and kept working until the paramedics arrived. That co-worker is alive today because these men got their CPR cert!

o for the gut who takes cpr for childs and infants to.. we were required to learne for them to i also know rescue breathing which basically part of cpr cause if the victim has a pulse and is not breathing then youll do that insted of full blown cpr but im sure you already know that but basically the class tought you how to approach an unconsious person and just for peoples intrest ill list all what they taught us to do....
(****NOTE**** please do not try doing thgis unless you have taken and passed an offcial cpr class)

first thing whwn you see an uncosious person

you scan the scene for oter hurt people dangerous object witnesses etc

then you should varify the person being knocked out by tapping them or shaking them calling out things like "sir are you ok"

then if they do not respond youll do the ABCs youll tilt their head back to open the airway then check for bvreathing then chedck for circulation (pulse)

if they have a pulse but are not breathing you do rescue breathing if the breaths dont go in you re tilt to insure an open air way if they still dont go in you adminster a lying down form of the heimlich (sp?) then sweep whatever came out and then try rescue breathing again

if the victim has no pulse you should then start cpr

that was very abridged i just wanted yall to get the basic idea there are about 10 dif cases i could go through off the top of my head and i could list a lot more info i learned

That you can learn CPR in three hours and pass even if you get some things wrong, scares the crap out of me.

Did they even tell you that you break ribs when you perform CPR?
