Our computer is in the living room. There is no way to hide anything anyway! I randomly check histories, cookies, and Sarah's favorites to make sure someone hasn't sent her something that wouldn't be wanted in my house.

Booyah Shartley. I wish more parents in this world would take the responsibility of actually raising thier kids right.

-My parents don't (for all i know, lol). But of course, if they didn't there'd be nothing to hide. It's a communal comp, and my dad knows more about computers then i do, so it would be foolish to put anything on there I wanted to keep hidden. I don't think they do in the first place, though, because I believe they trust me.

My kids are too young to use the computer for anything other than games, but I guarantee you I will know what they are doing on-line in my house. Their safety is too great a concern for me NOT to know what they're doing. And they will know full well that I'm keeping an eye out on them and for them, and most importantly WHY. Call it 'spying' or anything you want, but until you're a parent worrying about some sick POS that should be locked up stalking your kids, you have no idea what worrying is. Peer pressure, tests, exams, job interviews, etc., are all nothing compared to the worrying a parent does over their kids.

Heh, my dad used to come in randomly and stare at my IM's, but ever since i started closing down AIM when he walked in there was nothing there. My mom uses my computer from time to time, but it doesnt really matter. She knows a lot, yes, but even if i had something to hide i could get rid of it so she would never even know it was there. Temp internet files, url history, cache....

Note for the parents....you have no idea if they are doing things you dont want them to. If they are deleted there is a way to tell what was deleted, but many progs can be dl'ed to cover that up as well. The only way to TRULY see what they are doing would be to install a keyboard recorder that records every key typed on the keyboard into a text file on the computer. Once you have this, you can do a search in the document for words you wouldnt want your kids to be using, or viewing. Simple as that.

If I'm using the family computer then I don't do anything that I wouldn't want anyone else to see. Not that my parents spy on me, but I don't want them stumbling into something that I did. I just use my own computer!

Well I am a teenager, and this is what I have to say on this topic.

When my parents get mad at me for doing something "wrong", it just makes me more angry. I would rather straighten things out myself than have someone do it for me. If I get in trouble, I don't want someone yelling at me, I KNOW what I did wrong, there's no need for people to keep telling me.

I like to fix my own problems, because you know, there isn't always going to be some one by your side to tell you right and wrong.

making a map? is that what they call it these days?

the last time my dad tried to check on what i was doing online, he ended up breaking my whole computer. i just yell at him whenever hes near my comp. i will check it for him while he watches.
