way back when..

I dont have any thing to hide any more. Stopped and realized that "suff" was lame. Automags.org is the most frequented site in my cookies/history file.. (not far behind is PBN and local forums :))

Those of you who are young enough to have parents - you should be happy they care enough to WANT to be aware of what you do.

I was in Paris last month talking to a guy who has kids about the same age as mine. He asked me what I used to "filter" what my kids could get to on the net. I said "nothing." I know my kids - I pay attention to what they do - I keep an open line of communication. Sometimes they get into stuff that's "naughty" and I know about it. Sometimes I call 'em on it - sometimes I don't.

I mean, they're going to see that stuff eventually. Now, I want to keep them away from the REALLY wicked stuff until they get old enough to handle it - so I keep my eyes on 'em - but usually they just lose interest in that kind of thing on their own.

I remember being a kid an finding a "Playboy." Oooooo!
Being nasty! I got over it.

Rather than try to create an artificially "safe" world, I'd rather create a world where my kids can come and ask me about anything and I can tell them. They have a healthy awe of what I know about what they do - and they know I won't go off the deep end. I try to gently nudge them away from the really gross stuff until I think they can handle it and they get to learn to make their own minds up.

So, if you catch you dad lookin' over your shoulder, don't worry about it - he's just keepin' tabs. Some day when you're ready leave a JPG of a naked chick in there with a note: "Dad, though this one's TA-TA's were nice - what do you think?" It might lead to an interesting conversation.

I'm 23, unless it involves you in someway don't get caught snoopin'.. you'll end up getting hurt. That includes my parents. They know better then to turn on my puter. Wouldn't really bother that they know what I'm up to, cause I'm not doing anything wrong, but knowing that they don't trust me would piss me off pretty good.

shartley you sound almost exactly like my father. we always knew the rules. we knew our limitations. there was no discussion, argueing was useless. something my friends never understood was why when my dad said "no" i wouldnt cry and whine about it to try to make him say yes. respect is the perfect word for it.

i have no idea how my parents did that to me, my brother, and my sister. i hope i will run my house like that when i have kids though because even though its not total freedom, its freedom with complete trust from my parents (which as i got older had huge benifits) and i had a very smooth adolecence.

back to topic, no i dont think my dad ever spied on us. but there was nothing going on that we wouldnt tell him if he asked us. and he knew that.

and now he cant spy at all because i moved out! ha ha that'll show him!

My Mom has like never used my computer, she has her own one. She dosn't spy on me because she trust me, I never get in trouble and just simply do what she says lol. I donno why its so hard for other people to just do that lol :).
Other people always call me a goody goody or whatever just because I don't get in trouble, I just always try and do what I know is right. If she looked through my history or cookies or whatever on the comp(which she has no idea how to do anyways) she'd just find paintball sites and band sites basically, and then whatever my bro looks at...which might be scary, I donno lol :)

ENDO!

I guess you don't have a packet sniffer at your house then? Every little thing that goes to the outside world is caught in the little box. Wonderfull thing.

Actaully it was a joke, but if the warnings from my co-workers are true, once i get married i'll need a giant porn stash. Once i'm on the hook, don't need the bait anymore.
