The wings always have been and always will be a better team than Colorado

i guess your just an idiot cause i believe that the avs kicked the wings asses and kicked them out of the playoffs a couple o' years ago. i think they also did it in may or june of 2002.

No LA did that last year to detroit. That was by far the best series IMO last playoffs. I'll admit that colorado has a awesome team. I don't like them cause I just don't. I don't hate them either. It is kinda odd. I'll admit they have the talent but I still don't like them. I really don't think the East has that big of a chance this year. Then again this is hockey. All it takes is one more goal to get past for the win. Now that SJ is out I'm thinking this Detroit vs Colorado series is gonna be tough. The only way I could see the aves pulling it out is by the fact of their physical play. Detroit has the top guns though. This should be a very well played series and would not suprise me if they go into OT in game 7. Only problem I have with the wings is Hasek. I really dislike the fish out of the water routine. Then again I love how "The Cat" (Potvin) plays. He is a fighsty(sp) guy. I think Detroit will pull it off in 7. I'm gonna say Toronto will win in 5. I think the canes cinderella season is about to strike midnight. Anyways.

On a personal note I'd like to keep this thread clean of arguements. Discussions are ok but when arguements come out it just gives more of a chance for this thread to be shut down. Thanks.

Hey, I'm an avid wings fan, but I have to disagree on that comment there. When it comes to overall players, and stats, I'll admit that the wings should technically be undefeated on paper. But when you look at individual players on the team as a whole and the roles that they play, it kills me to say this, but I feel that colorado has a small edge. There's no doubt that this will be a physical 7 game series, between the av's and wings, but let's not count any team out until they one of them has been eliminated. Also let's keep in mind that the wings won the regular season series 3-1, with no big maylays. Anyone who saw today's game will probably agree with me that an all out brawl will happen no later than the 2nd period of the 5th game. Tensions and emotions are really high (especially with McCarty's hat trick), so it's coming and it's going to be soon. So in the words of Michael Buffer "LET'S GET READY TO RUMBLLLLLLLLLLLLE".

Also a little side note I can't wait to see Roy get his butt kicked by Hasek in a center ice throwdown. Roy has already gotten a beat down from 2 other Stanley Cup winning goalies (Chris Osgood 1998, and Mike Vernon 1997) so what difference would a 3rd butt whooping make? Worst case scenario, is he amy actually learn that he shouldn't get into a fight with Detroit players. After all Detroit is home to the Kronk Gym which gave us several great boxing champions (Tommy "Hitman" Hearns, and Emanual Steward, just to name 2).

i like the avs but the name of their goal annoys me. its spelled roy and said wah. that bugs me way more than it should and i don't know why. i think toronto or the red wings are gonna win it all. but then again every team i've rooted for has lost their series (sharks and senators). too bad the blue jackets aren't in it cause they are basically my home team me being in ohio.

You can't be serious. I admit Roy got worked by Vernon, but Osgood? Not a chance, check the tapes, he went down bleedin like a stuck pig.
As for a Roy Vs Hasek fight, that'd be pretty funny to watch. For some reason I just start to laugh anytime goalies throw down.

Hehehe in this crease..........6'2 195 lbs...has cups, wants golds....patrick roy..... and in this crease 5'9 160 lbs has golds, wants cups....dominik hasek! Either way it goes hasek will have a better shot if he doesn't fall down before getting to roy again.

Anyway, back to the game. good hard fought game on sat. Was anyone else surprised at how much room the teams gave each other to skate? Seemed like a lot of open ice compared to both teams previous series.

ok well stu i was talking about what someone else said i hate the wings, i hate then thoroughly. someone else said "the wings always have been and always will be a better team" i say that i hate the wings and that the avare the coolest. and whoever said that if the avs win it will need to be in there physical game, your wrong! the avs are a skill team not a hitting team if they want to win they'll need to keep there cool make good passes and hammer the goalie. and hasek and roy will not fight, if they did hasek would get beat like a red headed step child, the wings always send in anothere goilie if theres a chance of a fight. and this stuff about hasek and his "count days" hahahahahah avs rule!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reason being why I think the avs need to be in a physical game is cause it would were the old but well tested wings. The Red Wings have just as many skilled players as the avs. I can see the avs winning only if they go physical and keep up the technical play. The wings wouldn't be able to keep up with the physical + technical play. If it is tech vs tech both teams are gonna be even. Sure the aves could win a game here and there by just tech but the wings are doing the same play and have the same chances of winning. As far as Roy and Hasek going at it I don't see it happening. It would be like seeing Mario Lemieux going against Jaromir Jagr. It just won't happen. The goalies would be stupid to leave the crease and get another penalty added plus getting kicked out. Just my 2 cents.

well its the end of the 2nd tied at 2 2. the avs still need to keep up there tech game they were doing it very well a little while ago and they were dominating the game then roy thought it would be great to come way out and pass it to a wings player and get scored on when we were gonna have the puck anyway. i know they wont fight but im just sayin if they did hasek "the count" would get the crap beaten right out of him. go avs!!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't watch the game. My g/f won't let me. Anyways..... I've never seen Hasek fight so if Roy and him happened to drop the glove and blocker I'm pretty sure Roy would hold himself well. Still think Potvin is the best goalie fighter.

Ok, so I've missed a lot on this thread. Going back to game 7, did anyone else think Forseberg was intent on hurting Owen Nolan? Just seemed like it to me, I mean, not too deep in the game, star center, having good playoffs, I can't help but think Bob Hartley or Pete Forseberg were planning on putting someone such as Nolan or Selanne down. As skilled as he is, I absolutely hate Forseberg. I also dislike the Avs because of Roy, I find myself thinking a lot that with any inferior goaltender, the Avs would never have gotten so far.

                            Dude,
Dump her... She won't let you watch the game you love, especially at playoff time she needs to go!!! I am not ashamed to admit that I have actually broken up with a woman because she didn't like hockey. We went on a little weekend getaway and the finals were on, so I just popped on the game to cehck the score, and she got all huffy on me. Well, needless to say, that was the end of that trip, and relationship. I just wanted to check the score, not even watch the game. Oh well, I'm happier now, my current g/f is a major hockey buff (first date was a hockey game), and we've been toghter now for 5 months.

Eh theres a fine line between intent to cause injury and intent to cause pain. Anytime I know someone's hurting in one of my hockey games and it's a close game or series, I'll ALWAYS give the guy an extra shot at every opportunity. Gotta expect that. When I hurt my ankle every time I stepped out on the rink some defensemen was always slashing at my ankle trying to make it hurt more.

Yeah Roy definately helped at the beginning of the season, but you can't seriously be claiming that through out the playoffs to this point he's been his normal Goalie-God self. I mean, what, out of the last 8 or 9 games 4 of them he's allowed 5 or more goals. Not good.
