I THINK i have figured that out. for someone that was a huge star war freak, and saw every movie over and over and over, remember how much of a suprise it was when you fist found out that Luke was Darth Vaders son and that Luke and Leia are brother and sister. well if he had started from the beginning, it would not only not be a suprise, it would be a lil boring them just finding out something that you new from the start. Finding it out the same time they found it out is just part of the suspense that Star Wars created and it makes a lot of since(to me atleast)

I think you guys may be buying too much hype. Lucas does not have everything all mapped out yet. He just has the basic ideas. If you look at some of the pre-production sketchs for Star Wars, you can see some of that. There has always been this rumor of 3 trilogies. I don't think we'll ever see EP.7, Lucas is getting old.
Why did he start with Ep.4? Because he had no idea it would be the phenomenon it was. When it was first released it was just "Star Wars", not ANH. Ep.4 got huge, so he was able to make the rest of the first trilogy. He had the basic ideas for the earlier episodes, and is now making them.
If you have seen interviews with Lucas, you can see that not everything is planned. Do you think he would have had Leia give Luke that big kiss in Ep.5 if he knew he had planned them to be related? You can take certain lines of dialog and twist them to fit whatever you like, but just keep in mind its not a grand scheme he has.
He makes movies for our enjoyment. He tries his best at what he thinks we'll like. He adapts to what is said, and works it in to the story. Everyone hated Jar Jar, so we see less of him. We all wanted to more Boba Fett, so we got it.
Don't get me wrong, speculating and trying to fill in the back story is one of the best things about Star Wars. I'm a huge fan myself, but I also know that it all comes down to entertainment and business.

blennidae i think you have the most understandin out of the rest of the guys here.... Star Wars weas at firstr just a movie but now after the success Lucas' money is helping his imagnination out with makin the movies

ya'll might be right, but my dad seems to remember that when he first went to see the movie when it was first released a long time ago it said episode 4. george lucas may have jsu put that in their in case it did hit big or something, but it seems a bit odd that he would do that being uncertain if it would hit or not. who knows...Black Warp Left E-mag #EM00163

I'm 35 yrs old, I went to see Star Wars in theaters during its very first release (many, many times) and trust me there was no Ep.4 on the initial release. I honestly don't remember when that was added, but it was not on the very first release.Comment

First of all RT_Lover you couldnt have found anything like that because Lucas stated that he had only been working on Ep.III for like 1 or 2 months. Well my thoughts are that we will get alot more information on Boba Fett, yes all the Jedi die in the Clones wars with the exception of Yoda and Obi-Wan, Padme will die, Luke and Leia will be seperated, Leia under the protection of the newly forming resistance, which will become the Rebels, and Luke under the protection of Obi-Wan, Yoda will retire and hide in the deep swamps of the Dagaboh system, Republic will become Empire like Senator Palpentie will become Emperor Palpentine, Obi-Wan will duke it out with his rebelling Padawan and mess him up so much as to he will dawn the Darth Vader suit and cease to become Anakin, there will be NO Han Solo or Chewie in this enstallment, just the same basic characters in Episodes I and II. Just my 2 cents
