I've gotta say, this has definately been one of the more interesting threads I've seen here.

Everyone, I applaude you all for hte civility of it all & encourage you to continue act this way in all "touchy" threads.

Now, for my opinion )did I already reply? bah!) They're givin' you the shaft, IF they don't treat others the same as you. As for putting it back in or not, that's up to you, since only you have a true "Feel" for the situation.

Now, I for one happen to be all for individuality & individualy liberties, etc. So this sort of stuff seriously bugs me out. This whole conform or you're not gonna succeed that has pretty much been imposed by society seriously pisses me off. Stupid. STUPID! What the hell does it matter if you've got 1 pound of SS hangin' off your body, so long as you get your job done. I know, i know. Other people might find it offenseive, or distracting. Personally, I know exactly where they can stick it.

I went through the same thing at my school (not personally). Tennessee schools are notorious for crap like this.

My message to you blade, is do what you feel is right. Afterall, none of us here have to face the consequences of your actions.

I'm older, but I would rather see a nose ring than a necktie. When I see a necktie I know the meeting is going to be too long and accomplish nothing.
I was fortunate that I have been able to have jobs where I was allowed to wear ear rings. I took them out a couple of years back mostly because piercings are too vogue. It offers nothing by way of indiviuality anymore. All the things I planned on doing are too popular now. The bummer part of it is that some cool people do things and then some idiots come along and make it look stupid.

Either way hang in there. You'll find ways to be you. Above and beyond that "You" will allways be inside and noone can make think the way they do. And the way you think is the most important thing. That's individuality.

So I'm not clear about a couple of things. You said the school called, but your parents wouldn't say who called. Either the principle (or asst principle) called or not. If it wasn't them, then I would question whether "the school" has actually ordered you not to wear it.

I mean, there ARE in fact laws concerning this - and they can't tell YOU you can't and then let someone else. Of course, the question is WHY? have you talked to the school administration, and asked them why you can't wear it, and why some others can?

The result may be that others will have to stop too, or maybe someone took it on themselves to be the style police - in which case you can put thg thing back on and let them try to enforce it.

Of course, it all depends on how important it is to you to push the issue. Certainly plenty of people have fought these things and won in the past - but what it comes down to is they can make any rule they want - ANY rule - as long as it applies to EVERYONE.

definatly talk to the principal. I really don't know much about this though cause at my school hair longer then the shoulders in guys is not allowed, and you need to be cleanly shaven and no piercings are allowed either...

That REALLY blows about the teacher dude, I hope everything gets resolved, the septum is cool :). I'm lucky they let me keep my lip ring in at my work, 3 out of 6 of my managers have piercings(including tongue, bellybutton, eyebrows, tragus...etc) and I think 4 of them have tattoos. One of my other managers had her tongue pierced but took it out because it never healed right. And I have homeschool so I don't have probs with it there, my grandpa hates it though and told me he'd pray for me hehe, I told him that Jesus had piercings too(side, hands, feet...) he said that didnt count though :). After I get my Mom talked into it(or turn 18) I'll have a bunch more :). But yeah, find out how to keep it in!
