So after a few successful turns, you could have a summon dealing over 100 damage....thereby making your opponent cry like a dog eating it's puppies.
Sounds like a nasty combo to be up against.

I've been playing since just before the Dark. Personally I think the Invasion Cycle was one of the more inovative sets in a long time. Certainly the most fun!

My favorite deck is my Legends deck. 200+ Five color deck where the primary creatures are Multicolor Legend creatures, and whenever possible, multicolor spells. Duals and high powered single color spells make up the rest. Lots of fun, and works well in the 3+ people environment.

I have a couple of decks. My favorite is my Police deck (black and white). It uses mostly invasion cards, and it's great. A great combo of mine in there is Stronghold Assassin and Sadistic Glee. That deck has a lot of creature manipulation, and a lot of life gain.

Another of my decks is my Things with Sharp Teeth deck. It's green, uses a lot of squirrel tokens, saproling tokens, and treefolk. It builds pretty quickly, and it uses card from invasion up to and including Oddessey.

Some favorites -
Reya Dawnbringer (costs nine but you get to bring a creature out of the graveyard each turn)
Cho Manno, Revolutionary + Pariah combo (pariah = redirect to target creature all damage dealt to you, Cho Manno, Revolutionary = 2/2 legend, reduce to 0 all damage dealt to Cho Manno, Revolutionary [not an activated effect, but permanent] makes for a very cool damage prevention combo, especially if you have some way of protecting him from being buried and whatnot)
Serra Avatar 4WWW /$16 since you asked. Very cool in a life-gaining deck. Watch out for Eye for an Eye though!
Archangel- basically a 5/5 Serra Angel , costs seven, does not tap to attack.
Atalya, Samite Master - pay X, tap, gain X life or prevent X damage (white mana only).
Gerard Capashen -At the beginning of your upkeep, you gain 1 life for each card in target opponent's hand.[3][W]: Tap target creature. Play this ability only if Gerrard Capashen is attacking. (combo with multiple racks for... incentive)

I used to play a lot in like 97-98. I even got second in a local tourney once.
