ah ho ho - $100,000-110,000 (including car) for the twin turbo 725 horsepower one!! yes, that is still freakin fast for less than 1/5 of the price, but I'd rather go all out for the twin turbo vette.Originally posted by chrisj

hmmm you can help me then! I'm looking to tune/restore an older car. Been looking at novas, darts, and chevelles. Also been toying around with a really old vehicle. Any suggestions for a first timer? (not a complete newb. Raced for awhile, can do exhaust and most body work myself, electrical systems I can do, etc.) Like you said. I just want something wear I don't even have the option of doing a chip swap!Originally posted by rhetor22
Whatever happened to boring out ports, polishing everything you could, and a nice set of headers? I like cars that get 6-9mpg. :)Comment

I used to be the same way :) My truck changed my attitude on electronics, but that's besides the point.
I'd suggest you look at chevelles or older camaros as they are some of the most plentiful as far as replacement and aftermarket parts. Also gm 350's are very readily available, easy to work on, and won't break the bank. Unless of course you're looking for colossal amounts of power and a big block or something.
You can do alot worse than to throw a beefed up stroker 350 motor in an older camaro :) I'm not a GM man myself, but most people are.... which is where the availability comes in. It's when you get into the more rare cars and engines that availability goes down, and cost goes WAY up especially if you're going for total restore.Comment
